No, Halo 4 has definitely gotten a hell of a lot more public outcry than Reach. With Reach, it was split fairly evenly between people who liked it and people who didn't. With Halo 4, it's almost unanimously considered bad. That is a big difference.
-
You evidently weren't a member here from 2010-12 when the Reach forum was overloaded with hate. Scroll through any page on the Reach forum, and I can pretty much guarantee that most topics will be complaint/hate oriented.
-
Ok yes, I will admit I wasn't here during that time period. But you have to understand that at least people played Reach. I haven't even touched Halo 4 in about 5 months, but last I checked there were only about 3000 people playing it. Reach, on the other hand, generally maintained a population of around 14000, nearly 5 times that of Halo 4. I think the numbers speak for themselves on this one.
-
The Feedback forum itself could've been renamed to the "This isn't Halo" forum.
-
I know a total of one person who preferred Reach to H3. Most people just tolerated it because that's where the community had shifted.
-
Do you realize how split the community was with Reach? Halo 4, on the other hand, is unanimously considered shit.
-
you do realize that halo 2 had an entire domain name and full operating website designed specifically to hate it right?
-
That was 10 years ago. Also, measure the number of people who actually attended to that website against the number of people who played the game.
-
That was 10 years ago.
so?
Also, measure the number of people who actually attended to that website against the number of people who played the game.
that's not my point. my point is the forums and online were in just as much chaos as they are now. there was just as much public outcry online.

The move from Halo: CE to Halo 2 was drastic, and like all drastic changes is bound to create controversy. I think we can both agree with this.
-
cool. it still shows that halo 4 hasn't been the only halo game to receive an "internet lynching."
-
Not really. The people who complained still played it.
-
Edited by Pendulate: 2/7/2014 2:17:29 PMThey complained though. I think Halo 4 was the straw that broke the camel's back. People tolerated Reach but when the next game was just as bad they didn't have the patience for it. If the release dates of H4 and Reach were swapped I think it would play out similarly.
-
And Halo 3. And Halo 2. Hell, even CE got a fair amount of outcry back in the day. The cycle never ends.
-
People always find something to complain about.
-
Too true.
