Lurulu September 18, 2013 Popular member, Elegiac, finally creates a group: Lurulu. Its original three members are Elegiac, Otthild and Perception (Perception would later leave the group due to conflict with its denizens relating to post editing and other abuses of power). Initially members are selected in small numbers by Otthild, Perception and Elegiac, but this would give way to a more open membership policy over time. Lurulu is generally considered to be the first truly successful private group to be created since the site update, and membership becomes much sought after, with many prominent posters being among its initial population. Lurulu and The Floof Due to a spelling error, the description of the #Offtopic forum reads 'Surf a Floof of random discussion', instead of the usual 'Surf a Flood of random discussion' (A nod to the forums former title: The Flood). This causes general amusement, but it also inspires new member, troll, flamer and shitposter, MissBlacklight, to create a group called The Floof, recruiting its members from among other less savoury characters of the Offtopic forum. Due to MissBlacklight- for reasons unknown- selecting Elegiac as her main target for abuse, The Floof and its scoundrels quickly come into conflict with Lurulu, a conflict which, due to the lawlessness of the forums at the time, results in MissBlacklight making many threads to flame Elegiac and Lurulu, and Lurulu responding in kind (although in a more mature fashion). Eventually as the forum gradually becomes tired of MissBlacklight and The Floof and their spam and shitposting- and as Lurulu continues to flourish in harmony- the conflict draws to an end, with most members regarding Lurulu as the victor. After some time, full peace would be declared between the two groups as Elegiac pursued a program of rehabilitation on MissBlacklight, who herself would eventually become a fairly decent poster due to Elegiacs peacemaking efforts.

I specifically omitted group histories because they're just too many of them, and they really don't have much effect on the Flood itself. I made exceptions for noof because they were the first successful off-topic group and also the first successful off-site migration. And made another for V2 because of the shit storm that one group was able to create (Imagine a group full of the worst people on this site, nearly all of them dedicated to shitting on the mains). I do like the bit about being the "first successful group since the site update", but I think it may be a little too early to make that declaration, and again, doesn't really effect the Flood itself. Maybe a history of Bnet groups is a good future project.. But then again, people don't seem to be too interested in this. So I dunno.

  • Hahaha, it's alright. I don't know about it being too early though? I mean, if another successful group gets founded, then it would just be the second successful group. I like my little history :)

  • There's been a vast amount of successful groups.
