Why do I spend so much money on horrible internet?
What makes ISPs charge $60+ for internet that barely goes to 7mbps and goes down several times a month? What's the point in advertising 40mbps yet my area can ONLY get 7? It's a busy metropolitan area in which you expect high speeds, but rural areas maybe 10 minutes away driving get 15+.
Why does my internet bill go up $3 for no reason, too? I have no bundle, so I shouldn't be paying a penny more. Why does the US suck major balls in Internet providers?
I get 5.3mbps out of the 7 given to me, their only excuse is it depends on the time of day and how many people are online. Can't I sue these retards for false advertising?

I don't kno about those numbers too much but I believe my setup is lower/slower? I cannot play on live unless no one is on a computer, and even then it's laggy sometimes, and we live out of range of anything better :( makes me sad everyday.

I've got 60 Mbps down, 6 Mbps up here. We use Time Warner Cable. Our package is about $100/mo. for internet, phone and TV.

I get 3mbs down and .5 upload for 45$. I stopped caring long ago and hope Windstream will eventually move up 30 ft(Im literally that far away from upgrading) so I can at least get 6 down.

ISP: You want Internet? Ok, here's our slow ass speeds that cost an extreme amount. Consumer: No, screw you. ISP: Where else will you get your Internet then? Consumer: . . . (And don't forget about those lovely data caps.) Even where I live (Tampa), there's only 3 ISPs: Bright House, Verizon, and Comcast. Comcast doesn't even cover all of Tampa, but Bright House and Verizon do. Even if Crapcast was in my area, I would never use their Internet. Bright House is decent, but they don't give you enough bandwidth. Verizon is of course expensive, but you're getting the best that you can get here. We're currently paying ~$150 a month (I believe) for 80 down, 40 up, and that package also includes a home phone number and cable. So it's not too awfully bad. There are more expensive packages ranging up to 300 down, 75 up. (Oh, and we don't have any data caps.) In comparison though, in Tokyo, the Sony owned ISP So-net is offering 2gbps down, 1gbps up (aka 2000 down, 1000 up) for only $50 a month, with no data caps. Google Fiber offers 1gbps both down and up in select cities, and that costs $90 a month, again, no data caps. Some smaller US ISPs scattered around the country offer Gigabit speeds between the prices of So-Net and Google Fiber. Quite a few other countries have amazing, cheap Internet, such as Japan, South Korea, and Switzerland. Those were just the first few countries to pop into my mind.

They are capable of easily giving out the amount advertised but they just like getting extra money from people hiring them extra to come "fix" it when all the do is look at it for five minutes and charge you for $120.
