Foundry, Forgeries and Fun

Cheese-filled alliteration aside, we're obviously paying close attention to the Forge-based shenanigans that have been transpiring on the Internet and in the interest of trying to herd the cats of creation into a single file line, please post your best Forge Variants here, with well-written and descriptive depictions of your map. Paint with your words, like you've painted on Foundry's canvas. I've cross-posted text from another Forge/Gametypes thread here on the Forums. Do apply the format to Foundry specifically and go to town. We're watching, anxious to see your creations. Rebound, a Re-imagination of Snowbound Designed with Symmetrical-arena style slayer play in mind, Rebound takes elements of Snowbound that previously turned the map into an interior camping battle, like the Shotgun, and awards both teams a Shotgun in their respective bases. Weapon sets have been made close to identical on both sides of Snowbound in an attempt to remove the tendency of players to crouch camp underneath. This map is ideal for 2-10 players. How to make these posts. 1. Create a gametype and map variant, upload these to your File Share. 2. Publish the Gametype and Map variants to the forums, save the links to those threads. 3. Create post in this thread, and link to the Map variant and Gametype at the Publish to Forums link here [this way players can easily click those links and download your gametypes. 4. Create a well-written explanation of changes made to the map and if necessary a description of the gametype you've created, including ideal number of players, number of teams (if necessary) and any other relevant information. Please write as clearly and coherently as possible. 5. Bungie will be watching this thread and using it as a resource for gametype creation from the community as well, all posts not relevant to the topic at hand will be removed and users potentially extinguished like torches in a monsoon. [Edited on 12.12.2007 12:22 PM PST]

 • Ultimate FIghting Octagon RIng Its the perfect place for a 1 vs 1 duel, even double team deathmatches inside the cage. Same weapons on each side, gladiators choose the same weapons, they enter the ring and the most skilled one wins. There can be spectators at the sides, the view of the fight inside the cage is great. • Created this with my friend HackNightFire. Two bridges lead to the middle base which is surrounded by multiple smaller bases. Great map for Slayer and Team Slayer as well as objective type games. Its a very complex and interesting map! You will battle for your place at the top of the tower. Watch out for the sniper though or else your face will be gone. Hope you enjoy...Here's Ground Up! • I have been working on this map variant for a long time, I took it to the limit, by drawing out designs on paper before the map came out, and working everyday SINCe the map was released, here is my creation: Name: Clash CTF Description- A war style CTF game, designed for fast combat, and strategic advantages galore. Catapult yourself into the enemy base, on a suicide mission to steal the flag. Defend your flag, as you launch wave after wave of Fusion Coils into the attacker's base, in attempt to crumble their forces. Use your brain to develop ways to take out defenses guarding the flag, and bring home sure victory. the possibilites are endless, and each time you play, will be a whole different experience entirely. • Newest Maps Map: Fort Knox This map is probably one of the most organized, well-thought-out forts that has been created for Foundry. It is an architectural masterpiece. Perfectly placed walls and stairs divide this 3 floored, 2 section base into many rooms that you can use to fight off intruders. Although the entrance to Side A of the base is quite obvious, there is a secret passage your enemies may find to get in. Although it was set up with capture the flag variants in mind, this map has been perfected for two days and can now host all gametypes. The only way into the base is on Side A, however side B can be accessed a variety of ways once inside the base. For most gametypes, one team will start inside the base while the other team tries to make its way in to capture the flag, deliver a bomb, kill the VIP, or infect humans. This map is a lot of fun and is definitely worth the download. Check out the screenshots and give it a try! • Bombardment! HERE IT IS! Bombardment! is a symmetrical map that had two bases facing each other. Each base has 4 mancannons, with fusion coils waiting to be sent over to the opposing base. You can fire the coils over (hence, "bombardment") or you can throw yourself over your base wall to attack! In the center of the map is a bi-level structure protected with sheild doors. On the lower level you will find Rockets, and a Sword is waiting on the upper level. In addition, there is a tower on one side of the map with two plasma turrets, and a Sniper at the bottom. On the other side of the map where the transport node is to reach the tower, you can also find a Flamethrower. Other weapons on the map include spikers, flame and plasma grenades, BR, and of course the AR start. Reccomended gametype is at least a 4v4 Team Slayer to 50. I tested this today, and got a HUGELY positive response. You can find several images of the map (and today's test game) in my screenshots. Let me know what you think! -Ram [Edited on 12.13.2007 11:41 AM PST]

 • (This is my first post so please excuse me if I am a little rough on my jargon or don't get my point across.) I spend a lot of time in the forge I have created about ten or so maps so far. But unlike most people I pay attention to the little things and don't just go around making useless maps to play one or two times then forget about them. Not saying that they are any less talented I am just a victim of foresight. Yesterday was the second day that I have been privileged with the new DLC maps. It took me a few rounds but I analyzed and compared how a lot of things played in the new Foundry level to the old levels and finally decided on how to make my own map. The default Foundry map is pretty chaotic which indeed is a lot of fun. There are a lot of twists and turns and places to grenade jump and so forth. Non the less I wanted my map to be a little less tricky. So I looked, as any good nerd should, to my Halo books and found something inspiring. The children selected for the SPARTAN II program have donned their MJOLNIR armor and now seek out the planet Reach to test it. That's the main description for this level. The basic gist of "Reach Facility" is base on base like most of my maps. I Made two identical, compensating of course for base 01 being just a tiny bit wider than 02, bases base "A or 01" and base "B or 02." I did the best I could to make them feel homey like always but Foundry has a lack of the usual camping chairs and so forth for the foundry. The bases are guarded top mounted turrets, lookout areas, a plasma door at the entrance, and a mini-base at it's far corner equipped with a top mounted turret, rocket launcher, and a mongoose for quick defensive or offensive run on both sides. Straight down the middle there is a fence, or "The mouse trap" as my friends like to refer to it, which comes in from either side of the warehouse and stops one walls or so length away from connecting. Atop the fence are some Fenced crates with a gap between them so it is easy to get into but hard to get out of. A sword and some Plasma grenades lie at either end and can be very effective if and when you make it out of the trap using the many various hiding spots created in this map. In the gap between the fenced areas I have placed what I like to call "The Crag" a sort of trial by error mountain to get to each side of the warehouse. This is how it works. There is a gap down the center to run either on foot or on your mongoose to the other base, and stairs on the outside to scale this mountain. If you take the center route you run the risk of landing a trip mine or being taken out by a turret, but while climbing there are plasma doors and nooks and crannies to stow yourself away for a while. and you can also only get into the "mouse trap" from atop the crag, well without a well placed grenade, hammer, or rocket jump any ways. I wanted something simple and fun so I while I do have a few of my own game variants I'll reserve those for my other levels but give you a short description at the bottom of this post in case you want to try them. Until I get a larger file share it is hard to post everything I have. This is a training facility for the SPARTAN II armor so there are plenty of places to run, jump, and hide as well as open spaces to strafe, drive the mongoose, or snipe you enemy from the heavens. Go to my File share download it and tell me how you like it I really hope you do. This map is set up specifically for mostly Team oriented gaming such as: Capture the Flag (Multi Flag) , Neutral Assault, my personal assault variation "War", Team Slayer, Maybe a big team battle here or there, and VIP. I did not set it up for territories cause I'm the only guy in the house who likes to play. The slayer versions work well, it is set up for the Mosh Pit variation of King of the Hill and also my variation of Team Shootout. Closing information and comments: War- War is a game of neutral Bomb. When a player picks up the bomb he or she acquires poor camo and turns black but looses his shield and must be relentlessly defended or hidden by their teammates. Shoot out- Shoot out is my Ode to team hardcore, no radar, no armor, battle rifles, and pistols. Forced color is black for the best use of the shadows. Both games include Enhanced Radar and Active camo boost for five seconds on respawn. If you would like to download just let me know and I'll throw them up in the file share for you. http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=Andru%201%20of%20300 Wishful thinking: Dear Bungie, If any of you have a chance to read this personally I have a favor to ask you guys. I honestly would really like to work for your team some day but I need a little advice to get there. I just decided that at 23 I was finally ready for college but I don't really know where to go, how to get there, or even what courses I need to take to get the job(s) I want. I'm not saying that you should feel obligated just because I want to work specifically for Bungie but do you think that maybe someone could throw a little advice my way if you get a lunch break or something? Thanks guys I will supply my personal Email upon request. Andru 1 of 300 [Edited on 12.13.2007 3:35 PM PST]

 • Last Stand (Item 3 in file share) From the people who've brought you absoloughtly nothing so far comes... Last Stand! NOTE: This map is still in the production stage, with myself and some friends still running tests of evrey little aspect, so dont expect perfection first time arround. ok? OK?! This was designed as a map that could be enjoyed with any gametype and with any number of players. The basic layout is nothing to complex; a large, heavily defended base (A) towards the rear of the map, with the two 'off-shoots' combined to make a second, slightly less fortified base (B), with a lot of neutral teratory in the centre of the map. A Base is massive. It is constructed with only a single default enterence, however, the opposing team can make their own enterence. More on that later. The sole enterance is provided by a staircase at the side of the base leading to yet more staircases and pathways. Two turrets provide the bases stationary defence, with overlapping fields of fire across the entire map. Other weaponary inside the base includes Battle Rifles, Carbines, Assult rifles, as well as a Sniper Rifle and Rocket launcher, among other things. The Sniper Rifle is placed at the highest point in this map and has a total view of the entire field. It is not, however, beyond the dangers of B Base. At first glance B Base dosen't seem nearly as impressive as A Base. It has severaly limited defences and has only a single story of perimiter defences. B Base however, does have two munitions rooms featuring a total of 8 Battle rifles, 10 Assault Rifles, 8 SMG's, 8 Magnums and 2 Sniper Rifles, As well as a modest collection of Equipment, and generous room to fall back. B Base also features two Gravity Lifts to provide quick and easy enterance into A Base. The final section of 'Last Stand' is designated Mid-Base. It's hardly a base by anyones standards, but it is however, protected from all weapons fire by four overlapping shield walls. Mid-Base is also home to one of this maps most handy weapons: the Gravity Hammer. It is also convienitnetly placed equidistant from both A and B bases to make it fair game for both teams. Currently, this version of the map is compatable with the following game varients: Slayer, CTF, Oddball, King of the Hill and Infection.I have personally found this map to be most enjoyable with the One Flag CTF Gametype, although standard slayer and Infection are also great fun! Below are some images of various sections of the map: A Base B Base Inside A Base Part of B Base B Base Munitions Depot Down the middle to Mid-Base An alternate view of A Base An alternate view of B Base Well, thats it for the description, all thats left to say is: enjoy, and keep checking my file share to check for updated versions! It may not be perfect, but it's still a sport. In the map and gametype that goes with it, players must drive one of four mongoose on their side up one set on stairs ( Doesn't matter which ), into a man cannon and land in a bin of fusion coils. After which, the player must get off his mongoose and blow up the coils with either his gun or gernades. The rules of the game are on the download page. I hope you guys enjoy as this took me some time to make it.

 • Ive made a gametype called "Shadow Virus" meant to be played on "Claustrophobia!" its a zombies game where the zombies are invisible, slow and jump high, the humans have overshields, cant jump high, but are normal speed. The map is a big maze with a rewarding room somewhere hidden ( i might add more), and the goal is for the humans to either find it and stay alive or just explore all over the maze while keeping on a lookout for those sneaky zombies. The humans either spawn at point A or B, so there isnt just one way to get to the hidden room. The game is suspenseful and very fun to play because a zmobie could pounce on you at any second, and it is really a strategic based zombies. I while put both the game and map on my file share later today, my friends even like when its 1v1, but it should be really fun with alot of people. heres the link to my file share: http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=The%20CH1MP they have been added there, awaiting ur download to fun [Edited on 12.13.2007 4:18 PM PST]

 • I made a CTF variant and Foundry forgery called Basketman. It's pretty simple really. Based on Multi-flag CTF, 2 teams compete to throw themselves into their opponent's basket (the upturned boxes at either end of the court), wherein they find a Flag, a Sender Node, and a rather unfriendly Fusion Coil (for last second "saves"). The sole Reciever Node (connected to both Senders), and the two Flag Return Points are all in the very middle of the court, sharing the same space. The effect of this is that as soon as you hop into the teleporter, you score your team a point. The map also features a good quantity of equipment and powerful weapons (rockets, shotguns, snipers, grav lifts, custom powerups and power drains to be precise) to aid you in Basketing your Man or Woman (... or Alien), or hinder your opponents doing the same. I took great pains to ensure its symmetry (I owe a beer to whoever's idea the grid pattern Foundry floor was), but you obviously switch sides after a round anyway. The gametype has two 5 miunute rounds with unlimited scoring, and Sudden Death with no time limit. Player traits are reduced health, quick-charging shields, increased speed, and reduced gravity. The 5 second lasting Custom Powerup reduces gravity and increases speed a great deal more, but temporarily removes your shields. Oh yeah, and you have recharging Frag Grenades and start with Assault Rifles. The more people playing the more fun it is. There wouldn't be much scoring going on in a 1v1 or 2v2 game. 3v3 minimum, but ideally as many as possible. Have fun, and Basket a Man for me.

 • Hang em High I have recreated the glory that is Hang em High. I have spent hours looking at pictures from the internet and running around Halo 1 in order to get a perseption of the original map. From the sniper post, to camo, up to the overshield, items have been put in their original locations. Revisit the shotgun tunnel as you await a kill, or camp blue base with the rockets. Relive days gone by. Hang em High

Everything on the map with the exception of the power drain powerup is exactly symmetrical. There is a good mix of long range, mid range, and short range weapons per side. Additionally, there is a good mix of long range, mid range, and short range encounter spaces as well. This map has been setup to work well with the following gametypes: -Slayer -Team Slayer (strong emphasis) -One-flag CTF (this should work very well) -Multi-flat CTF (One-flag would be better) -King of the hill (this should work very well) -Territories (I'm really excited to try this) -Oddball Weapons/Equipment: Each side has the following (except the Power Drain, which is just in the middle): -1 Sniper (located right outside the "base" shield door, behind the big wall) -1 Rocket (located at the very end of each catwalk) -1 Shotgun (located in the middle of the tunnels area) -2 Maulers (one inside the "base", one between the catwalks/tunnels...so not right beside each other) -1 Needler (located inside the interior hallway) -Plentiful BRs and a few less Carbines -A few dual-wield combinations -1 Man Cannon positioned underneath the catwalks; it will shoot you over the tunnels area directly in front of the opposite side "base" -1 Invisibility powerup (located on top of the tunnels) -1 Bubble shield (located below the Sniper on the ground) -1 Regenerator (located in the tunnels) -1 Gravity Lift (located under the catwalks) -1 Power Drain (there is not one per side, only one located on the ramp to the catwalks) As you can tell, I've put a lot of thought into what would make a good team-focused symmectrical map. I feel this map works really well and if tweaks are needed...well that's what's so nice about The Forge! Please Download/Rate/Comment/Enjoy! ZD

 • On sandtrap, when placing a hill on the structure in the middle, when playing a custom game, the length of the hill differs from that in forge.
