Foundry, Forgeries and Fun

Cheese-filled alliteration aside, we're obviously paying close attention to the Forge-based shenanigans that have been transpiring on the Internet and in the interest of trying to herd the cats of creation into a single file line, please post your best Forge Variants here, with well-written and descriptive depictions of your map. Paint with your words, like you've painted on Foundry's canvas. I've cross-posted text from another Forge/Gametypes thread here on the Forums. Do apply the format to Foundry specifically and go to town. We're watching, anxious to see your creations. [b][url=http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=13209070]Rebound, a Re-imagination of Snowbound[/url] Designed with Symmetrical-arena style slayer play in mind, Rebound takes elements of Snowbound that previously turned the map into an interior camping battle, like the Shotgun, and awards both teams a Shotgun in their respective bases. Weapon sets have been made close to identical on both sides of Snowbound in an attempt to remove the tendency of players to crouch camp underneath. This map is ideal for 2-10 players. [/b] [i]How to make these posts. 1. Create a gametype and map variant, upload these to your File Share. 2. Publish the Gametype and Map variants to the forums, save the links to those threads. 3. Create post in this thread, and link to the Map variant and Gametype at the Publish to Forums link here [this way players can easily click those links and download your gametypes. 4. Create a well-written explanation of changes made to the map and if necessary a description of the gametype you've created, including ideal number of players, number of teams (if necessary) and any other relevant information.   • [url=http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=15225808]Air Assault[/url] the attacking team starts off with 4 banshees and 2 hornets all set up with quick respawn so you'll never be out. your objective is 1 territory placed high above sandtrap's large structure. the defending team is given a missile pod, Spartan lasers, rocket launchers and sentinel beams (to track the air vehicles). its a lot of fun, its fully tested and includes lots of carnage. the balance is good (the only fair game iv played with hornets). its designed for 4v4 to 6v6. it can work with 8v8 because i placed a couple of snipers on the attacking team (so if you dont get an air vechicle you play a support role with the sniper taking out spartan lasers. you can use the regular territories game variant or use my [url=http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=15225652]Air Assault[/url] which is just 3 minutes (instead of 4) and 20 seconds to capture (instead of 30) give it a try...you've never played anything like it!

I took great time and care into organizing weapons, grenades and equipment. This Game has no power weapon and instead has all the dual-wield-able weapons. The more powerful mauler is spawned late in the game to ensure fairness in finding it. This game type is a 5 round game with 3 minutes in each round for the starting "Minotaur" to kill off everyone. However he only has the ability to use plasma pistols as his shooting guns after he takes down your shield. The Minotaur has no radar. You may kill him to become Juggernaut 10 seconds later. (So don't die) Everyone else has the ability to use any weapon on the map. Has no radar and are not allies so they may kill each other. (albeit for no points) There sheilds are also slowly draining so half-way through the match they will be left powerless against the Minotaur. The gametype still might need to be tweeked after a few more test runs, but I love it so far. EDIT: I have not played Labyrinth, but if it is also a maze map then Minotaur may also work there.   • ----[url=http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=Supertoast8]Zombie Maze![/url] Another maze map on foundry made for a specific gametype where the unlucky victims of the lone zombie have no radar to detect the fowl creature while the alpha zombie has enhanced radar. Gametype-[url=http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=Supertoast8]labrynth zombie[/url] The map itself is a maze with many hiding spots for the humans and several shotugns. You may only start with a pistol, but you'll find another weapon soon enough. If you're lucky, you may find the lone flamethrower in the center of the map. (You may have to set it to "Never" respawn for a fairer fight) Best played with many people for mass zombie fun! (P.S. I hope you like it, and this is not meant to be a copy of anyone else's idea in any way.)

  • Here is a map I made called Soccermanjaro Its basically soccer on steroids. Each team has a gauss warthog, ghost, and brute chopper. In addition the goalie is given a turret to keep the ball away from the goals. Man cannons are placed on each side of the map to allow faster traveling. I also placed shield doors on each corner and in the back of the goals to keep the ball from slowing down (instead it bounces off full speed). The gametype makes players and vehicles invulnerable to damage and makes players run faster. The game is best played with teams of 5, using only the vehicles and turrets. All of this makes for a really fun fast paced game of soccer, hope you enjoy. Pics:[url=http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/Screenshots.aspx?gamertag=Andy3OOOO]Obstruction[/url] [u][b]Description[/u][/b] The map is divided by a large wall - this wall has several ways through it. Each base makes use of an armory. This includes, 4BR's, 2SMG's, 2Pistols, 1 shotgun, 1 trip mine, 1 portable cover. Outside the base is a turret and a sniper. The building at the end of the wall contains: spikers, rockets, plasma rifles and bubbles shields. Also in the passageways throught the wall are a needler and a brute shot. * I have changed a lot of the weapon respawn timers so the level works well. The back hallway has shield doors in the centre with a sword in between. Invisibility can be found on the 1st floor of the wall but you will have to make a jump to get it. A turret and sniper are at each base but they have long respawns so use them wisely. Rockets spawn in the Building at the end of the wall. A man cannon is a quick way to get across the map if a turret is providing heavy firepower. Scenery provides quick ways to surprise the enemy - everything has a purpose, well most things.

On the top, there is a relatively open area and plenty of power weapons. Inside the maze itself, there is nothing but chaos. The maze holds virtually all of the spawn/respawn points, and there are several close-quarters weapons which spawn after the game starts. The weapon and equipment sets are pretty standard, with lots of dual-wieldable weapons and several (some slightly hidden) close-quarters power weapons. In short, [i]Lost & Foundry[/i] is a frightful maze which will make any player confused and paranoid (not to mention claustrophobic), and once the top has been located, it will make the same paranoid player want to return to its familiar fear. Nerves will be shot alongside players, and much hilarity will ensue. [i]This map was designed for FFA Slayer (AR starts) or Zombie gametypes, and should work for Team Slayer or Oddball, with a recommended maximum of eight players. There are no refunds for this item.[/i] ------------------------------------------------ [url=http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=Fox%20Three%20Seven]Caged. (Slot 2)[/url] This map is [i]also[/i] a maze, but this one uses fence walls and fence boxes (as well as stairs for the sake of the "look"), and features no roof. The player's goal will be first to survive, second to exit the maze, and following a successful exit, returning to the maze with fury. The maze itself is rather small (due to the limits on cage objects), and although the fences will allow bullets to pass through, there are also shield walls interspersed to further break things up, and a veritable plethora of non-frag grenades. Also in the maze are two teleporters, and under each fence box lies either a teleporter pair or a two-way 'porter (as well as high-value weaponry or power-ups). Since nearly all of the teleporters operate on the same frequency, there will be considerable confusion due to their use, but as though [i]that[/i] weren't enough, there are two receiver nodes which operate on a different frequency, and if their sender node is located (in the series of fence-box teleporters), one will send the user outside the maze, and the other traps the user with a Spartan Laser**. Once a player successfully exits the maze, he can reach its top, where he'll find additional power weapons and equipment on top of each fence box, designed to rain death upon those still lost or those who are respawning. Of course, he can just as easily jump back into the fray, but he may instead choose to go higher still, onto the catwalk. Although there are no weapons on the catwalk, it provides a bird's eye view of the whole map, and a little wandering over to the closed-off bases will find a pair of Sniper Rifles... In short, [i]Caged.[/i] provides for frenetic gameplay, and its design, weapons, and equipment allow for pretty solid strategy -- but don't let the opposing team contol the top... There are no refunds for this item.[/i] **The Splazer placed in the "trap" may be replaced by fusion coils in updated versions, and there may be an additional receiver node placed outside the maze to avoid snipe-camping the teleporter, pending further playtesting.   • s symetrical forts face each other across an open span. underneath lies a maze for shotgun fun. weapons are located in the locker rooms on each side connected by a 2 way teleporter in the bottom of each base. a soccerball is there to use as a gate controlling access to the base from the other end of the teleporter. . it's set up for all team game types. works best without radar and starting grenades.   • I've got a decent Foundry map going, still working on a name but it's based around everyone's favorite feature from Halo 2's Wind Station 7, the choke point, it's a multi-level Single Bomb Assault type, the map is essentially done and im tweaking the optimal game type, the only difficulty im having with it is having people go the right way... im still looking for testers so anyone interested should drop me a message [Edited on 12.15.2007 11:59 PM PST]

The idea is to have the players split into teams of 2 (ie one mongoose each). The game variant [url]http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=15327988[/url] is a VIP game which allows checkpoints. The score limit is set to 10 but that is easily changed. Players are invincible and have infinite ammo. Weapons are spartan laser and needler. We thought that using rockets and brute shots was too disruptive to the gameplay. Race around the track, take the shortcut (if your brave enough) and yeah thats about it. Starting line can be at the cones that are placed on the track.   • Detriment New unique foundary map, increases the amount of high action combat that you encounter (and therefore is really fun!) But is still completely balanced.
