The Hobbit 2 (Spoilers). Discussing the subject.

I have just watched the movie in the cinema and it looked amazing! It was a breathtaking 2 hours and a half long film full of action and extraordinary effecs. The battle against Smaug was my favourite part and the ending scene was the best: I am fire, I am death! This is one of the must-see of the year and it is worth it to watch it in a big screen. Comment about the movie and share your oppinions, fav. scenes,... Enjoy! PS.: Feel free to double/triple comment.

  • There were some points where the CGI looked like shit.

    • I like how they added her... Usually additions to the book's story are bad. Not to this time.

    • It was total shit. Way too corny and made for children.

      • It was a good movie unless you read the book. It was just too different from what actually happened. Tolkien did not intend for there to be some disgusting interracial love triangle in his book.

        • Cool thing about Smaug, he's voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch (Khan and Sherlock Holmes).

i hated the graphics for the hobbit. all the stuff looked shiny and somehow made me feel a little nauseous (as in really, not just a way to describe how bad it is). the plot was fine in the original too. i don't feel like watching this installment and i'lkl just wait for the last one next year. the battle of the five armies, HERE I COME

            • I liked it a lot more than the first part. I was mostly on board with the changes/additions to the book that they made. I think that if they stuck closer to the book it wouldn't have made a very good movie, and I understand the need to make lots of connections to LOTR. That being said, I find both of the Hobbit films to be disappointing compared to the LOTR trilogy. The heavy use of CGI really turns me off. Smaug was fine, but the goblins look awful. Also, there really isn't any justification to make three films besides $$$. I think the story would be better told in only one or two. I wonder if The Hobbit was better off in Guillermo del Toro's hands.

It was horrible. Just pointless action. It deviates way too much from the book. The only character that was actually fleshed out, Tauriel, wasn't actually in the book.

              • I thought the journey through Mirkwood was a bit too short and the fight with Smaug a bit too long.

                • I enjoyed it for the most part but I don't know how I felt about some parts. Like the black arrow going on the dwarven ballista and not being an actual bow and arrow. Also the battle between Gandalf and Sauron was cool but it made Sauron seem like a punk because he couldn't take down Gandalf's shield whereas the Balrog just took it down in one hit in Fellowship. Also I felt there's too much cgi in the Hobbit and as a result it won't hold up as well as LOTR. Actually, in my own opinion, the cgi in the Hobbit seems a bit poorer.

I loved the film. Although there were many more changes from the book's plot than the first movie, I enjoyed this one more nonetheless. Gandalf's battle with Sauron of light against darkness was great, and the reveal of Sauron himself was spectacular. Having read the books I knew it was coming, and my heart was still pounding afterwards. I was skeptical of the added relationship between Kili and the non-canon character Tauriel, but I was surprised at how well done their scenes were (though the part where she uses kingsfoil to cure Kili was a bit silly, in my opinion). And the music... this new romance would be nothing without Howard Shore's beautiful new theme (linked above).

                • I went and saw it last night and was very good. I nice mix of action and dialogue. I understood what was going on and the action is badass. I've never read the books (will soon). But even if the plot points are different from the books, it's still good. A book-based movie doesn't need to follow everything from the book in order to be a "good movie."
