It seems to just focus on exploring, which I love, I just hope there is lore.

How does one procedurally generate lore?

Edited by Specops115: 12/10/2013 3:15:08 PMActually not unheard of. I took an advanced game AI course last year that was focused mainly on character development - found out at the end they were running that semester's focus as a pilot for a course that would always focus on characters/storytelling. I am unable to find any great examples at this time but Facade could arguably be considered to implement it as well as the new LOTR game which plans to implement a nemesis system in which over time it's possible to build a dynamic relationship between your character and a specific enemy leading to the creation of a back story over why any given battle means something specifically. One of the groups in the course used social media to do some very simple story crafting to variable levels of success. And I understand storytelling is slightly different from lore - but similar principles can be applied. So where did you take this course? I've been looking in to collages lately. Especially full sail if you ever heard of it.

I'm at Georgia Tech for grad school. They don't have a game development degree but they have a lot of course offerings around that focus on various game development areas (design/programming/AI/animation/audio). They do have a computational media degree but I only recently (within the past few years) discovered my love of game development - so my degree hasn't really been focused on that - but I have spent the past few years pouring a lot of time into projects and side classes to pick up the skills I think will help me market myself to the industry.

Glad to hear, maybe I'll see you one day in the industry. Plan on being a designer, and character developer.

Maybe so then, I was able to land an internship position this past summer as a gameplay programmer. And from the various conversations I had with my coworkers - it seems like the industry is a very small place. They knew people from all over and seemed to be in pretty good communication with them.

First things first for me. Got to get that degree!

This. If there is a ton of lore beautifully crafted into the universe creating that need to explore and wonder, I'm sold. As it stands however I'm not really on board yet.

Same. Also it need a good combat system and Co-op, for me.
