So, now that it's all out there what has it been? I made this thread halfway through 2013 and TLoU dominated the poll. Has that changed?

Ehhh.... GTAV I guess. I finally got around to playing Infinite and... it was something. The level design/world building/art design and all that jazz was absolutely phenomenal but the rest fell flat. The gameplay was somehow a step BACKWARDS from the first Bioshock, and the story was a "2deep4U" mess that wasn't satisfying or even interesting.

Fire Emblem: Awakening, by far. I used to play alot of console games, but honestly I tried to play both The Last of Us and GTAV and I got pretty bored. The gameplay really isn't that great for both of them, so even if they had a good story I couldn't get into it. Fire Emblem had a good gameplay and a good story. Those moments where you are trying your hardest to have everyone survive and finally succeed is -blam!-ing amazing. The plot itself isn't really 'revolutionary' or anything, but the characters in it are likeable, and even if it is cliche in some parts, it still is fantastic.
I mean, the ending with Chrom/Lissa waking you up like the beginning is honestly -blam!-ing amazing, and one of my favourite endings to a game just because of how well done it is. And even if the choices throughout the game aren't really that "story-changing", I still loved them. I mean I promised to Chrom I wouldn't sacrifice myself, and even though that didn't really have an affect on the story, I feel like it made my character's eventual sacrifice even cooler, like a real hero in some fantasy tale.
Most people haven't played it because it is on 3DS and is slightly niche, but I'd say it is worth buying a 3DS over. I is -blam!-ing amazing.

Edited by tuckers baby: 12/6/2013 1:11:25 PMI would like to see Metro:LL or Bioshock: Infinite win, hey, I'd even like TLoU to win. But I already know GTAV's fandom has caused it to win GotY... just like the Walking Dead.

TLoU, easily. GTA V has boring and terrible gameplay. It was such a bore going through the gameplay, just to be able to see the characters interact with each other. Though the characters are greatly acted, they don't make me like them. With the exception of the main character Micheal (yes I said that). With all the space they give for travel, it is just mainly useless land, and you spend the majority of the time in a simple city. Whereas for The Last of Us, it utilizes sound to make it's gameplay more innovative (but not massively). Though it is linear, there are multiple ways you can handle the situation whether it be loud and abrupt, or quiet and stealthy. The characters are believable, and IMO greatly compliment the world they live in. The relationship between Joel and Ellie makes for an interesting pair; Considering how Joel lived through the start of the infection and how Ellie was born into it. I can't say much about the world itself (considering it's a linear game), but the distance is felt through landmarks and cities seen throughout the game. That doesn't go to say that the game is perfect, because at times your ally/allies ruin the immersion with their waltzing out in plain sight of enemies and nothing happening.

Why is tomb raider in this????
-
GTAV will get it. As is tradition.

lol at people voting TLoU.

Edited by SnowboundSquid: 12/5/2013 7:03:17 PMthe last of us is unforgettable. it truly is the best linear single player game i have ever played. for the couple of guys who think they're cool for insulting those who hold it so highly, you weren't able to get the same level of enjoyment everyone else got out of it, and for that i feel sorry for you. you really missed out.

For me, the Last of us and the Legend of Zelda are my two best.
-
>The Last of Us >GTA V #Gaming confirmed for shit taste
-
None of the above. (-blam!- it, cut the cord!)
-
Fifa 14

Edited by qy: 12/5/2013 4:55:47 AMNONE OF THE ABOVE. FALLOUT 4 IS GOING TO RELEASE CHRISTMAS DAY AND COCKSLAP THE INDUSTRY
-
Lego Marvel Super Heroes is gonna surprise everyone and win
-
None of the above. I had zero interest in any of the AAA releases this year.
-
This was one of the best years for gaming by far. OT: GTA V is a guaranteed winner of GOTY. I'm sure TLoU was great, but it got wrecked by GTA.
-
I know it won't get game of the year but zelda: a link between worlds is an awesome game!
-
Secret Option: Pokémon X/Y.
-
The Last of Us hands down. Although I will say that GTA V and Gone Home come very close.
-
God this was a shitty year in AAA games.
-
Where's Aliens Colonial Marines?
-
Where the hell is Battlefield 4 and Batman Arkham origins???
-
No Bioshock no. Infinite is pretentious shit. Gameplay is okay but the story is garbage.
-
My goty would be blood dragon or gta 5.

3D World is THE BEST fun I have ever had with my friends. That game is such a blast with at least 2 other people, and I don't even own it. I have to give it to 3D world.
