• I agree with you Murderinmex. Team SWAT was an amazing playlist and needs to be brought back. Everyone i know loved to play it and I pretty much had 4-6 people at my house every day takeing turns on who did the worst in our group just to play Halo 2's Team SWAT. What's keeping you from bringing it back Bungie?

Ya, corporations like making money any way they can. It's ok, you can call me stupid, considering I attacked no one personally. I'm going to go burn some ten dollar bills to heat my apartment in Chicago.

If you don't have that, then what the hell are you doing spending time and money on video games in the first place you nerd, get a real job.
If you do your homework, you'll stop forgetting that Microsoft staked development of the game this time around - just like the last two times - and they just broke away from Microsoft, so you can assure yourself Bungie gets less of that cut than you think. ("Halo 4" will be different, I suppose.) I have a huge problem with your argument, and everyone else when they use the same type of retarded logic, rooting for Bungie/Microsoft without really knowing why. "just do it man, it's only like $10 man, you've already spent all that $$ man, what's another $10?" Because, you idiot, just because I have the money doesn't mean I should have to pay it to them, or even to you. Do you actually pay for your own bills yet? Wash your own clothes, even? It's like taxes - you can pay more or less and get about the same results, so what's the difference? - the efficiency in how the funds are used, waste more and include more middle men and you need to give away more cuts - and I have more than a feeling that when I pay more, it's not like all of it's going to your beloved Bungie. ( I really wonder what % of the original crew even get to taste a cut of this map revenue.) Here's a funny revelation - this game was going to cost $60 whether or not it actually cost that much to develop it (I'll give you a hint, it didn't cost $60 a game when averaging what was sold in discs and LIVE subscriptions) - does that mean it's worth $60? Well, despite your stupid, naive opinions and your desire for Bungie to butt--blam!- you all the way to the bank, you're definitely right about one thing - if I'm buying their system and using their titles, I'm playing their "game", legally and literally. But we've already been introduced to a Microsoft that is somewhat duplicitous in the manufacturing of the 360 to begin with, is it really that hard to believe that we're being even the slightest bit screwed over? (And, oh, because they were "wrong" - I know, Microsoft being wrong? *gasp* - and had a large lawsuit being mounted against them, they completely revamped their warranty process, almost having to give back 1.5 billion in funds... Sucks to be them, but what do I really care, they shouldn't have let 1 of the original 3 manufacturing plants do such a -blam!- job.) Another funny revelation, if no one, absolutely no one, buys the maps until they're free, does Microsoft and Bungie shut down? Yeah, "development" my ass, they already had those maps paid for 10x's over. It's an issue of respect for the customer; just because you don't know how to fix your car doesn't mean I should charge you $400 to replace your brake pads. When you find out, you get ticked and all I'll need to do is tell you to "stop whining, nerd"? Here's an important catch - I'm the only mechanic in a 200+ mile radius, so it's my system, my rules. It's like Best Buy charging you $35 for replacing a hard drive - are you serious? Doesn't necessarily mean I should open my own shop and charge anywhere near that, I'd feel too dirty taking people's hard earned money like that. Next time you want to be the big man on the internet, pull your head out of your ass and counter with a legitimate argument, not something Bungie fed you while you were on your hands & knees polishing their love-rod and massaging their brown eye. There's making a great product (Halo 3), there's being tipped (me paying $60 a game when it cost less to make [per disc]), and there's taking advantage of the position you have over consumers - it's real fun playing a game when you don't get to make any of the rules. (hint: Sarcasm, it's really not that fun.) You really have $10 bills laying around the house for no apparent reason, and no reason not to spend any of them? Then send me a bill, you trust fund monkey, I like money just as much as Bungie does. Or maybe, in between your munchie breaks, you can sweep them all up into a giant pile and use them to pay for surgery to get your empty skull filled with something useful, maybe you'll start making sense then. •
A few things. You said you were in real estate, right? So let me give you a real estate analogy. If I bought a house from you, but then decided to add a pool, would you come back three months later and give me a free pool? Of course not. I paid for a house. A pool is extra. It costs money to dig, build, tile and wateproof. It takes time to add a pump and a filter. There are labor costs, permits and so on. The new maps cost money and time to make. So Microsoft (not Bungie) charges for them. And furthermore, the new maps are not required for matchmaking. If you don't buy them, you won't see any difference. And on top of all that, they'll be free to download in a few months.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Frankie, but I feel like there's a slight problem with your analogy. Part of Halo 3's advertising campaign was informing consumers that Halo 3 would come with "16 new maps!" I mean, before announcing the map pack, before the release - everyone was told that, when you buy Halo 3, to expect playing on "16 awesome maps!" I know I've got a commercial DVR'd somewhere. So, adjust your analogy appropriately. It's like you're buying a house... So you go to the agent to put a down payment on your house, since it isn't built yet and you need to choose and reserve yourself a lot in the new development zone - and the house in the brochure that the agent gives to you shows your model house with a pool built. And you asked your agent, "so I get a pool with this house?" And the agent says, "Yeah, when you buy this house, you're gonna get so many things you didn't get at your old house - a new pool! I know you couldn't build one at the last house due to zoning restrictions, but don't worry - you get to have one at this new home!" "A brand new pool!" And then you buy the house, and there's no pool. And then you find out if you want it, you have to pay for it - even though the pool was heavily used as an advertising attraction, intentionally used by the marketing team as part of their strategy to lure customers and seal the deal. Lawsuit? Your example makes the assumption that the consumer had no idea a pool was involved in the deal. I knew before I could buy the game that I'd get 16 maps, I just half-expected I wouldn't have to pay for it. Unreal. You can't tell me that anyone in the marketing, developing, research team is taking a hit in their pay, that the investors haven't been paid off - someone need to make more payments on their new ride? - but I suppose there are some things you can do with $650+ million that you can't do with $550+ million. :-/ [Edited on 12.13.2007 1:51 AM PST]

 •
Posted by: A Duck In A Tub
Posted by: Sol Knightt Let me just be one of the first to say that the winners of those awards on Spike VGA were total BS. The things that Halo 3 were nominated for, well, Halo 3 should have won. I mean, wtf? Bioshock for Game of the Year?! C'mon. And the announcer said "You gamers are the ones that voted!". Uhh hello? Most of us don't watch TV, much less go to a channels website to vote for crap. (sigh). Bungie, you should'a won best studio and game of the year. Sorry you didn't. >.<
Halo 3.... Game of the year? Not a chance in hell! Bioshock TOTALLY deserved it. If you have doubts then go pick up a copy and see for yourself.
i played bio shock, not even close to halo. infact, not even close to golden eye. yeah the n64 goldeneye. i dont care if you people like bioshock, but i played it for like an hour, and i got soooo bored of it. id seriously play golden eye, not saying goldeneye was a bad game but all im saying is that golden eye is really old and its a better game than bioshock

I have read some of the other custom game threads in the other forums. And even though I appreciate the effort by some of the community members to create 'search engine' websites to help people set up custom games, those are unfortunately plauged with spam. I guess the custom game issue is if the Bungie team ever would consider making a custom game search tool so it is much easier to find custom games (either web-based or inside the actual game). I know it is hard, but I feel a lot of people would love this. It would definately help tap deeper into forge's unlimited potential. If not, then no big deal. I do enjoy the game and appreciate the hard work that has gone and is still going into it. Thanks.
umm even though i agree with you that there is a custom game issue, that we need a custom game finder as i said before, i still think the bungie team is trying their hardest to please their fans, i mean they are even responding to what people are saying! thats amazing, ive seen many times where companies ,or whatever bungies category is, that dont care what their fans talk about, bungie actually checks their forums and they actually respond, im happy that bungie cares that much.

 • This update has given me more faith in Bungie. It shows that they are still catering to their customers and that definitely is a good thing. I love the fact that Team Hardcore is coming back and I love the Team Objective changes. I really wanted to like that playlist, but then, all of a sudden, TERRITORIES or VIP. I swear they were a waste of time and killed whatever ideas I had of implementing teamwork to my teammates. (They'd just complain about the lame gametype and then not want to play objective again.) Now the increased CTF and Assault will make it fun. I also like the inclusion of BR Start gametypes. Ranked BTB is a decent addition (at least to me) but I'd really like to see Team Snipers. The new maps are an exciting addition, but I'll hold off on them until they are free. After all, there are only three.
