Will "Destiny" last for YEARS? like a living game with too much DLC's?

Hi, I've been watching and reading about this game for months now. Although this is my first post but I had to ask about this. In the early statements from you [bungie team], you said that this game is planned to last for a long time. With events taking part during this time. Does that mean that you won't be needing to release a sequel after the "hoped" success of the game? because its a "live" game through and through? If not then what you [bungie] ment by lasting for long time? I can't explain any further, but for those who understood me if you know something about it can you tell me? it'll be appreciated. Thanks,

  • Destiny is confirmed to have four titles and four major DLCs, one after each title. It is safe to assume that each title will put emphasis on a certain part of the overall story-arc. Maybe even a particular planet(s) or specific enemy.

    • The last I knew, which was awhile ago, there are going to be about 2 or 3 sequel games and around 4 DLC's. a year after Destiny comes out, on of the big DLC's will come out, a year after the DLC, the next game will come out and so on. Again, this is information from the past so it might not be the same anymore.

    • Destiny will be around for 10 years with, now don't quote me on this, but I believe it's 2-3 sequels. And your character can be imported from the previous Destiny.

      • I can only speculate, and in no way this is a right or wrong answer. Even though destiny is not an MMO, they do have the idea that they want a "persistent world." I think you won't get Destiny 2, 3 and other sequels, but instead get expansions like in World of Warcraft. Again this is pure guess work, but it seems that bungie plans for Strikes and certain challenges to be released over time after the game's release. The idea is that there is always things to do in the world. And there might be major releases that bring in new planets, new stories or even new classes. Now what we need to know is what we are going to pay for this. Is there going to be a season pass? A subscription model? I think boarderlands is the closest game, mechanically to destiny so you might want to look and get some ideas of what the game's progression might me. Like you I'm looking forward to the day when Bungie lets the cat out of the bag and we get some more info on the game.
