Halo Waypoint Community Letter to 343i
Hello Everyone, The community have created a document which we believe is critical for the next Halo. There were lots of people involved and took weeks, but after several reviews we finally have the final version for everyone to see. This document was sent to over 50 employees at 343i, anyone from a coder to Bonnie Ross the general manager, and will also arrive at the physical building at 343i. We encourage a good discussion about the document and PLEASE, I can't stress this enough, PLEASE make an effort to read the entire document. That way we do not go over things that have already been discussed. If you have any additional questions, comments or concerns we would love to hear and will do our best clear anything up. We would love to get additional support and trying is better than not. Cheers! Go ahead and click that Favorite button please, it won't bite :)
Halo Waypoint Thread ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My own thoughts: While very thorough and well written, I am dismayed by the fact that the sources for why the community prefers "this" over "that" is specifically from Waypoint itself, leading to very biased polls. A lot of the ideas are not bad, but they deserve to return as toggle options, not absolutes. Anyway, maybe this will also show the Bungie Community that the Vocal Majority does not like 343i's choices or even them themselves at Waypoint.

 • It's all very well that people give multiplayer so much attention, but it'd be nice if they expanded that petition to include campaign and Forge/Customs feedback too (as Sandtrap said). Josh Holmes stated that Halo 4's Terminals couldn't be included in the main game because of issues with disk space, as Halo 4 pushed the 360 to its limits. With next-gen technology, this should hopefully not be a problem which will allow for a much more integrated experience when it comes to the various aspects of the story. Campaign missions themselves should have more open playspaces with various ways to approach missions, ala Silent Cartographer (which, to this day, remains one of my favourite missions of all time). So many next-gen games are opting for a more open world theme, it'd be nice to see Halo follow suit and build on what ODST put in motion with the hub of New Mombasa. Halo 4 captured the scale of Forerunner environments perfectly, but primarily through vistas and inaccessible regions. It'd be great to actually look at something far off in the distance and go there. More unique AI enemies with more distinctive combat roles and behaviours, like the Covenant in Halo CE, would be nice. Bring me back my Goldies from CE and I'll love them forever. New forms of Prometheans would be nice too rather than simply giving each 'rank' a minor cosmetic change. Imagine going up against this beast! 343 has plenty of other designs to work off as well which could make for interesting, dynamic and varied combat encounters - E, H, L and N in particular look really cool. Get rid of the damn 'return to battlefield' countdown. Sure, they can be bypassed, and it seems counter-productive to limit the player, but some of the most fun campaign tricking is getting out of the maps and seeing what lies beyond. More flora and fauna would be nice too. Spartan Assault had a mission where you had to navigate through a whole labyrinthine forest of alien plants to kill Sangheili generals which made for some really interesting combat, I'd love to see something like this in Halo 5. Requiem was supposed to have more ambient life as well, like the flying stingray from the E3 2012 demo that was unfortunately cut. All I can be bothered to type right now...
