Watched this brief video earlier and really enjoyed it. I thought it touched on a few good points. It's about the psychology behind online behavior.

You grow thick skin to the point where It's just natural.

You guys do realize you can set your chat to friends only right? It changed my life and lowered my blood pressure.
-
Being anonymous on the internet gets people off.
-
Lots of jerks i meet but occasionally i run into some really cool people

Edited by Kilo: 11/11/2013 4:14:54 AMI'm actually surprised at how many nice people there are online. In Pokemon XY I traded with a random person and we trusted each other enough to trade legendaries back and forth. We also traded pokemon that needed to be traded to evolve like Gengar and Alakazam. I even traded him an adamant Larvitar (Y exclusive) that I wanted to keep and for a second I thought he was going to be a jerk and keep it but it turns out he bred it really quick and traded it back. This was all with no communication too. I feel like it is even easier to be a jerk in this sort of environment but I haven't experienced any jerks yet. Every random person I traded with was really cool.

Anonymity. It makes people act more like themselves and it gets rid of a lot of social boundaries. I sort of like it actually, it allows people to be brutally honest and it's a lot easier to determine if someone is an asshole or not.
-
Because anyone can act all tough and bad hiding behind a screen.
-
tl;dw
-
Anonymity. Just like the people on this spouting shit. I know half of you wouldn't say the stuff you have said to my face.
-
Anonymity. "I can say anything I want to/at you and you can't do anything about it. Why wouldn't I?"
-
The environment influences behavior, but we all can think. Derogatory or insulating communications aren't okay, no matter the means of delivery.
-
Because -blam!- you that's why.

I agree with everything he had to say on the matter. Using the Kinect in that way is an interesting idea but I think it would open a whole new can of worms that would be just as if not more destructive.

When a person plays games like Halo or CoD. It gives you a chance too be someone else. Too be the ultimate hero. Sometimes the power goes to there head. They think they can Say what they want and Do what they want!
-
Because being anonymous has its perks.
-
Because being nice doesn't get you anything online. (in anonymous settings, that is)
-
That makes sense.
-
Good video. The first 2 minutes definitely describes many of the idiots on the internet.
-
hmmm, i have to agree with the Kinect idea. But then, it would totally backfire when people start showing crazy crap instead of faces.
-
Heard the disinhibition theory, turned off. Please god, match me with nice people.
-
Microphone Warriors. That's the reason.
-
Nah, I'm sure it's cause they're actually mentally broken.
