The Chronicles of Alec Blackwater Chapter IV Upgrades and Bounties

Wearing his officers’ uniform, Alec was ready for the Guardians Ball, physically. Daniel had his uniform on as well, but be was also wearing enough cologne to knock a barn full of horses and had enough grease in his hair to grease three ships. Alec showed up at Eleanor’s address early to pick her up. As he knocked on the door, her roommate answered, looking like she just woke up. Alec didn’t catch her name; she just told Eleanor that her date was there. Eleanor came out into the hallway, wearing her uniform as well, as figured, she out ranked Alec. Eleanor was a Lieutenant and Alec a Sargent. Alec noticed that she had let her hair down; there were streaks of pink in her brunette hair; he also noticed her violet eyes. “Good, evening,” Eleanor said to Alec. “Evening, Mam,’ Alec responded, tipping his hat to her. They walked to the hanger together, not saying a word. There were already so many there, probably around 250+. The hanger was done up nice to, streamers, flags of the factions, a giant piñata of Cabal, a double-sided buffet about fifty yards long, a fondue station and chocolate factory, and yes, a full bar. They had an exo D.J. in a watch tower like contraption, watching over the dancers. However, the dance floor wasn’t too crowded. “Come on,” Eleanor said, as she grabbed Alec’s hand. “Let’s dance.” “Go get some, tiger,” Daniel said to Alec with a wink. Eleanor made a b-line for the dance floor, almost dragging Alec. They stopped about in the center of the dance floor; it was a slower song, so Eleanor decided to get to know Alec better. “So,” Eleanor began. “Where you from, Alec?” “Bleaker street, the slums,” Alec responded. “You?” “I’m from the middle class district, Sloan Avenue. Parents were part time Hunters, part time pilots for the Council. What about your parents, Alec?” Eleanor asked. “I’m an orphan. I was raised by a missionary, me and my twin sister.” Alec responded “Really, you have a sister? Is she a Guardian to?” Eleanor asked. “No, she’s a missionary now. Her name is Joan.” Alec responded. “What missionary?” Eleanor asked casually. “Spencer Gracie, he was a second generation Titan before that.” Alec responded. “I knew him! He spoke at that trial about religious rights when I was twelve. He was a pastor I last heard.” Eleanor exclaimed “Yeah, Spence is a pastor now.” Responded Alec with a grin on his face. “Where is Daniel from?” Eleanor Asked “Pluto. No, we grew up on the same block, helped keep each other safe from trouble.” Alec responded. “Really?” Eleanor said with a smile The music changed, The Tango…. “Oh, dear,” Alec said, with sarcasm in his voice. “Do you Tango?” “As a matter of fact,” Eleanor responded. “I do, Tango.” So they tangoed. Alec spun Eleanor around and led her across the dance floor. Daniel could be heard from the side lines. “Yeah,” Daniel shouted at the top of his voice. “Yeaaah! That’s my boy! You go Titan!” They danced the full song, when the song was done; they had the eyes of everyone. They looked into each other’s eyes. They leaned in to kiss… Yet again, the dream ends. Alec awoke in the alley he used for a shelter for the night. Alec got up and looked around; he had a good idea where Whisk was. Rumor had it that a young hacker lived near the wall dividing the rich from the slum districts. Alec located it; it was in the basement of an abandoned building. Alec entered with caution, locating the secret entrance to the basement. Once in the basement, Alec heard music, punk rock. Alec turned a corner to the right, down a narrow hall way, it led to two doors. Alec shoes the one on the right. Inside, was the man who spoke to him at the mess hall, Whisk. “What’s up,” Whisk asked Alec, as whisk turned off his radio. “Never mind, dude. Listen, you need to give me back that chip, now. The chip is payment for removing the mind control and manipulation.” Alec took the chip out and handed it to Whisk, right now, he didn’t feel like arguing. Whisk put the chip into his computer, he then told Alec to sit in a chair in front of the counter Whisk stood behind. Whisk walked around and flipped the small hatch on the back of Alecs head. Alec had a warning message appear in his sight. Whisk made quick work of the small device controlling Alec, getting Alec all done in five minutes. “Spread the word,” Whisk said. “One bad killing machine on the loose now.” Alec stood up, feeling some relief. He turned to Whisk and thanked him. “What, now?” Alec asked. “Now we get you a face and out of this world.” Whisk responded. “You need to disappear for a while. A lot of bounties out on you right now, heck, even one from Simons and the FWC.” Alec asked Whisk what he should do, as Whisk pointed him to a strange machine at the end of the counter. Whisk had Alec remove his helmet and armor around his hands, and then Whisk had Alec place his hands and face into a mold like fixture. Whisk pushed a button, tapped on his key board and he heard a hissing sound. Two minutes later, Alec had a prosthetic face and hands. “So,” Whisk began to say. “Here’s what you need to know. You need to get these bounties off of you, best way? Expose Simons for the criminal he is and, of course, kill the bounty hunters he sends after you. You see, Simons was using you, to do his dirty work outside the city, he doesn’t have the stones that you do. You’re not the first to be used for Simon’s games.” Whisk continued to talk. “There’s a bounty on this Dead Orbit guy, Stahll, pretty deadly, worth over a million credits, don’t worry though, he’s only got Cabal DNA spliced into him; making him big and even dumber than before he did the splicing. Kill him, and the FWC may forgive you for making four of their Mercs look like sissies. Go to the shipyard, look for a Guardian named Rain, he can give you a lift to Venus, where Stahll is.” Alec looked at Whisk and Asked: “Why are you doing this? Why did you want that disk?” “The disk,” Whisk started. “Possessed information on your type of exo, didn’t want it to fall into the wrong hands, so I stored it in the disk, erased it from the hard drive in your computer part of your mind. Why? Because a long time ago, Simons used my brother, the way he used you. So, call this payback.” Alec got out the Red Glimmer. “Where did you get that,” Whisk exclaimed. “Out in the wasteland,” Alec responded. “Wondering if there trying to buy it from the Fallen.” “They?” Whisk asked with concern. “One of the Elders,” Alec started to say. “He was quite anxious to get the registration over with. Don’t know his name.” Whisk looked at his computer; he heard music in the distance. “Oh, no, not now.” Whisk said with annoyance in his voice. “What-“Alec stared to say. Then he slid through the door way, Jk-Bx (juke box). A small little droid the size of a hobbit, blaring music, dancing, and making the sounds: "ewnce, ewnce, whoop-whoop!" “Break it down now!” Jk-Bx yelled, as he started to break dance. “Yeah!” He noticed Alec and froze in his pose, a one handed hand stand. He ran over and stood in front of Alec. “NO WAY!” Jk-Bx exclaimed. “A Delta Mark III, right here in front of me, too cool!” Alec looked at Whisk. “I have a damaged fusion smg,” Alec started to say. “Trade for it?” “Sure,” Whisk said, looking at Jk-Bx with concern. “I’ll be right back.” Whisk walked into a room behind the counter. Jk-Bx stood in front of Alec, looking up at him with his beady little eyes. He had a t-shirt on, it read “Jesus Rock” and had a picture of Jesus playing lead guitar and singer in a band with Moses as his drummer, David with an electric harp, and Paul playing an organ. He also had yellow shoes, blue jeans, and a baseball cap on. He was a small android of some sort, Alec didn’t know what kind. “YOUR’RE AWESOME!!” Exclaimed Jk-Bx excitedly. Whisk came back out, carrying a shotgun, ammo, and some grenades. “Trust me,” Whisk started. “You’ll need these. Now, give me that fusion smg, those aren’t cheap, you know. We’ll talk again when you get back. Good luck.” The shotgun was a pump; "Don't be to Gentle" etched into the pump grip and thorns and roses were etched like they are growing along the barrel. The stock was removable, enabling it to only use the pistol grip. Alec loved it, he'd grin if he could. “Luck,” Alec started to say. “Is for people who don’t know what they’re doing.” Jk-Bx was still glaring, menacingly. “You’re to cool,” Jk-Bx whispered. Alec just looked at Whisk, who shrugged his shoulders. With that, Alec took off towards the shipyards on foot. When Alec had arrived at the ship yards, Rain had already left, so Alec hitched a ride with a merchant (who was unaware of Alec joining him.)
