Most teenagers at some point or another will take their parents for granted. For the parents to know this and trudge on right up til the point where the kids realize the parents deserve respect is what a good parent does. Parents need to know that most children will end up "hating" them at some point. I think what a lot of people don't realize here is that respect isn't binary. There are different levels of respect.
