Well, if this stops even a single attack, suicide or other misfortune in or on the LGBT community, it was worth it.
I wonder why the Vatican is taking such a drastic stance on a liberal issue. This IS the same organization that only recently apologized for saying it was heresy to publicly proclaim the Earth was round...

Well, it'll ease tensions a little bit between the LGBT community and the Catholic community. Not right now, since the Catholic Church (Depending on your area) is still intolerant of that behavior. From my perspective, if you're gay in this town, that is an automatic red flag for the Catholic Church(es) in this town to make fun of you and be heavily intolerant, to the point of some churchgoers making sure that gay people aren't welcome in this town. Well, at least they have the UC and the Community College. Those two areas are a safe haven for the LGBT community and people who want to get a degree and move out of this god-forsaken town. Pun not intended.
