Does seeing those words on the money really bother them? Just think about, how many times a day do you look carefully at your dollar bills, and how long do you spend thinking about the words on the dollar bill, certainly not as much as the number. I honestly don't see the point in changing it.

  • Yeah. In fact, let's just put Hitler and Stalin and shit on the faces of the bills. It doesn't matter.

  • Because those are obviously comparable.

  • Yeah, what kind of asshole would compare God to Hitler. I'm sorry, Hitler.

Hilarious. I guess Hitler promised eternal life. Either way, the vast majority now worship god and its a very minor matter. The very basic principles of freedom we have now are based off of biblical accounts of creation as interpreted by our founding fathers. The reason why having the man who was once the world's public enemy number one on our bills should be obvious.

  • I just hate the mentality of "it's trivial, therefore it should never change". Should it be a priority? No. Is it still something that ought to be taken care of? Yes.

  • Why? Why ought it to be taken care of? Yes, America embraces religious freedom and the freedom to believe or not to. The very reason for that freedom however is based on Christian principles possessed by those who founded our nation. Why then should a light, basic, vague and relatively non controversial, theistic statement be removed?

  • Because I'm not a fucking Christian and I don't believe in God, nor is my trust in him. Not that fucking difficult. We don't owe religion shit.

In god we trust doesnt denote your having to owe it anything. What you and others of your cause need to learn is tolerance. One of the basic, fundamental building block principles of this country is tolerance and freedom of expression. We almost religiously follow the principles set by those who founded this nation. The principles that give you the ability to do this now and grounded and rooted in the Christian/genesis principle of free will. That is a fact that Americans can never escape, regardless of whether or not they want to. Your belief happens to conflict with a principle that founded the nation. You either deal with that, try to cover up traces of the principle (in this case), or simply leave. The issue here is that people are actively fighting for something as meaningless as this when so many problems run rampant in society today. Why can't we devote our energy to something more worthy of our time allocation? If we freely exercise our right as a democracy and out this issue to a vote, do you honestly think you'd have your way?
tolerance.
If I wasn't tolerant, I would not only want "in god we trust" off, I would want "God is dead" ON. But I don't. I want it to remain unbiased and ambiguous. Idiot. • You're too heavily biased on this matter to come to a fair conclusion. I'm sorry. This conversation will accomplish nothing.
