This video outlines the 2nd weapon customization mechanic that I hope to see in Destiny.

The guns are modular so you should be able to switch out parts. Forza actually has a lot of great mechanics that I think Halo could have benefitted from like being able strip cars down to stock and then push them right back up to RT grade for certain venues. This mechanic would have helped because then halo 3 players could play against each other while Reach players could enjoy armor abilities without having to mingle. The painter in Forza is quite fun and I'd love to see it mixed with a Forge for weapons, gear, and ships for in depth customization by being able to clip parts into each other to create unique personalized looks.

This video is the answer to these Lames asking: Destiny looks like crap; These recycled games are so much better than Destiny. Keep your dog; I'd rather set myself apart from character copies.

So I think you're on to something with the visual customization on armor, etc. I'm a little hesitant to say that optics, et al are hackable by the player, because they're going to want to keep certain weapons with a bit of unique, non reproduce-able goodness. I also *want* the guns to modifiable in the way you're asking for, but I'll ask you the same question I've asked bungie in the mailsack: If I can tweak the bejesus out of generic auto shotgun and level with it for 20 levels (as it improves every time I shoot it, per Deej)....what makes a weapon like the Red Death, or the Thunderlord, or any other exotic rare weapon desirable? Why would I want to switch to this "epic/legendary" weapon, especially if I can visually customize this generic autogun into something that *looks* legendary? I get that you're going to tell me the parts of the Thunderlord/Red Death/whatever become valuable, but that's like stealing a Jaguar for the chop shop - it may be more profitable, but it's a crime in and of itself XD

When you said "visual customization" I wasn't expecting the paint & decal editor line of speculation; the evidence is a little slim but I can see why you'd go there. That's a definite possibility.
