I move threads with some regularity. I honestly don't see that many issues.

The issue is that some people just flat out ignore putting video game threads in #Gaming for whatever reason. It hinders the discussion cause we end up having to tell OP that his/her thread should be in #Gaming, and despite how easy it is to move the thread themselves, they still don't.

Ignoring the problem only encourages the behavior, the thread itself isn't bothersome, just where the OP is putting it.

There is [i]nothing[/i] hard about putting a video game thread in #Gaming. Even if you put the thread in #Offtopic by accident, it only takes you several seconds to edit your post and have it moved into #Gaming.
