So I took Oxycodone..

For those of you who don't know(I'm assuming everyone) I have been suffering from severe migraines for the past 3 and a half years. I have been to many doctors and they have all prescribed me many different medications which would never work. I haven't taken any Migraine medication in over a month now and they have been continuing to get worse and worse until yesterday. About 2 days ago I had a really bad episode and I was confined to my bed for over a day. I had to miss 2 days of work because of it, I was in such severe pain I could barely move or leave my room except to throw up. Last night my mom came into my room and offered me some leftover medication she was given after she had surgery a few months ago. I was reluctant at first because I knew exactly what it was. I took ONE pill. I'm not sure what the dosage was or how many milligrams it was because I can't find the bottle anywhere(which was probably a good thing). An hour later my pain lessened incredibly and I felt much better. I was able to go to work today. I'm torn guys. I don't know what to do. Getting addicted to Opioids is probably one of the worst things that can happen to you. I can't really find any good advice over the interwebz either. I'm being completely serious here. I can't get the thought of those pills out of my head.

    • This may sound like a really dumb and obvious question to ask, but have you gone in to be scanned for a brain tumor or anything like that? I only ask this because you mentioned that the migraines are continuing to get worse.

I have a similar situation, although a little less serious than yours from the sound of it. I get crippling pain in my back, and take codeine for it which is - if i'm not mistaken another derivative of opoids. Basically I was taking them for a month despite it saying 3 days max - risk of addiction on the box. However, one day I just stopped taking them and didn't have any withdrawal symptoms or other addiction problems. So, what I'm saying is don't freak out over it. You probably won't get hopelessly addicted to it in the first place if you only took one. Codeine Phosphate is a much better solution for migranes if I recall. But yeah Oxycodone isn't something to use lightly. You should probably check with your doctor about the migranes/oxycodone but you should also never use a prescription that is for someone else as a rule of thumb. Whatever you do though, don't take any more without consulting your doctor simply because there might be another solution available or a complication with your health and it.

Relax is the first thing. Just sit down and play some games or something. Just try to forget about them for now. Then if the thoughts come back go to your doctor. EDIT: I would actually just go to your doctor regardless. Get advice from him or her.
