I think there is a place for the Master Chief if the UNSC could see the opportunity, but how much of the UNSC "old guard" is still in command? What happened to Admiral Hood? What about the veterans the Chief actually fought next to? Johnson, Miranda (not a great tactician tbh) and Cortana are gone, as is that one unnamed Aussie Marine who was always there with us. The Arbiter is far away, Hood seems to be MIA, and the Chief never seemed to know that many (non-Spartan IIs) to begin with. Does the Chief really have any "friends" left? Dr. Halsey is still around, but she has always been cold and detached. She seems to have played her role and is only kept around to be grilled for info about the Spartan II program and piss off the officers of the UNSC Infinity.
