My body doesn't nearly look as good as it performs, and I don't mind that. I love surprising people with my athleticism. I don't need to be a gym tool like you and obsessively work out. And you're misinterpreting the quote. Working out and getting in shape is not what Socrates meant. Making the most of what your body can do, like running a marathon, competing in a triathlon, playing a sport, that's closer to what he means. If you work out and are in great shape, that's nice, but if you don't put that body to the test, you're wasting your time. Use it or lose it.

  • I rock climb and I box. It's not obessessive, it's just 1 hour a day, 6 days a week. Barely affects my schedule at all and the pay off is so much more rewarding. Lol @ you assuming people who go to the gym are tools.

  • There is more to life than looks. The quote you posted in your OP ca easily be talking about someone's personality/character. Personally I am not surprised by your attitude based on where you were last year and where you are now it seems more like you are trying to show off in order to get an attitude boost. Instead of being happy for yourself you made this thread as a way to show off and get some form of gratification. Considering how you were depressed pretty much is enough proof for me. You found something to make yourself happy and get out of that low point in your life. Now whenever anyone talks negatively about that subject you get offended. Honestly I don't care if someone looks better than me hell my roommate last year looked better than me. He though that would get him what he wanted, but at the end of the day it didn't. Also rock climbing is easy considering I knew plenty of girls that were in no way fit that were able to do it.

  • You got me with the tool thing, I worded that pretty badly. But what you said is that people who don't are wasting their lives. That's a tool quote if I've ever seen one. it is good to know that you actually use the muscle you build at the gym, though. I can't stand people who work out all the time but do nothing with it. And I'm not talking about exercising to stay healthy, I mean those people who do athlete-caliber training.
