I know it's naive to think that everyone would agree on this one, but please try to be more reasonable/open minded. When Kira and I (and all of those who support this) talk about aging, scars, etc. we're not talking about (although they sound like fun xD) "Cane Wars" or "Freddy Kruegers"... I think it's more on the line of having those subtle touches of "weather-beaten"-ness, about becoming a true Veteran. Five-eight RL years of aging on a character isn't that dramatic. I bet most of your parents look almost the same from 5~8 years ago.
