How much will classes actually matter?

Right off the bat, I'm not trying to argue any specific points, just trying to start some discussion. I linked my video at the part where I kind of cover this topic in case anyone wants it in video form (or is just interested in Destiny YT content). I'm wondering how much of a unique feel each class is going to have. Every class can use every single weapon in the game, there's no restrictions. I don't think we're going to see character talent trees, like a World of Warcraft or [insert MMO], because our characters only have two skills. It'd be boring to have 3 trees per class, one for one skill, one for the other and one for guns, at least I think it would be boring. If we do see character trees, it might be just two trees, one focused on magic, the other focused on guns. But the whole only having two skills thing is still an issue, unless of course we will get more than 2 skills and we can only have 2 on our hotkeys at a time. I think we will see talent trees for our abilities and obviously we WILL see gun talent trees on a more per gun basis. I was thinking about possible "best" fireteam compositions and originally I was thinking something like a 1T, 2H, 3W setup would work, but then I thought about how "tanking" probably isn't a thing in this game, at least as much as it is in a traditional MMO. So, sure, you can go in with whatever class setup you want, there's no worries, you don't NEED to have X class. But then...the classes because less important and less unique. The only thing that sets the classes apart are the two magic skills we get and maybe the armor we can wear. I'm not sure I'm explaining that as well as I'd like to do, but I hope you get what I'm trying to say. What does everyone else have to say on the situation? I know Destiny isn't an MMO, I know. But it sure is acting like one and I'm in favor of having it more MMO-like because...well, I like MMOs.
http://youtu.be/es8peAOwntw?t=6m38s
(6:38 if the skip doesn't work) Straight from the horses' mouth, it seems that class differences seem intended to be oriented towards minor tweaks with there being no major differences in gameplay. That said we'll see just how much of a difference the accumulation of all these minor tweaks makes. The result isn't always what was intended in design.

 • Class Skills are pretty much going to be Armor Abillities 2.0. I imagine you'll find or unlock them, and you'll choose which ones you want to take with you. You seem to get two active skills, and probably one passive skill.

 • Classes are going to matter a lot. Bungie had said that race and gender don't change the gameplay, but classes will. Your class could affect things such as missions you can go on or people you can talk to, not to mention of course it will affect what abilities you have access to.
