State of Decay First Impressions.

After merely a couple of hours of this $20 arcade title, I can honestly say that State of Decay is worth every spent point! It is an open world zombie survival game with REAL emphasis on survival. This game is downright terrifying, as every venture into the wild and night is a gamble. You may run into a wondering hoard, special infected like Screamers, or a lonely house in the middle of the forest that may be ripe with loot. Every step that you take has an unknown consequence. The game features perma death with every character that you play as. And that is made immediately apparent when you take on a hoard that is too much for you to handle. Sure, you can take on a few single zombies at a time, but once those number stack up into the double digits. Running is the only option if you want to live! Your weapons degrade over time with every hit that you land. When they are on the verge of destruction, they glow yellow, but they can be repaired at your home base. Provided that you have the proper build at the base. You are able to build other structures at your base if you have got the resources. You can have a sniper tower that will pick off your perusing foes, a workshop that will repair weapons, and even a garage that will repair and house your vehicles. State of Decay has the makings of a full retail game. It is expansive and deep in all of the right ways. It will not win any beauty contests, there are definite issues with the pixilated shadows and the visuals just look a bit muddy and low res at times. The frame rat can drop from time to time as well. This game is flawed, however, it is a blast from coast to coast. At the value that it is at, you cannot go wrong with this purchase!
