Who cares about the story? Most great games are known for their innovative and fun gameplay and that's what gives them their legacy. Although there are a few exceptions (Heavy Rain, Journey , etc.) but I think we can safely assume that Destiny wasn't meant to be like those exceptions.

True, but how far can they go if they solely focus on the Gameplay? They plan on a 10 year life span, focusing only on gameplay could make it boring and repetitive. I would hope for a gripping Story, with good Gameplay, and lots of content. But don't get me wrong Gameplay will play a major factor in interest. I just don't see it being the main focus. In my opinion. But who knows!

WoW has an okay story yet it's still the most popular MMO as of now. It's all about the addictive gameplay, bro.

What do you want at the end of the day? A game that leaves a touching experience with a great story and awesome characters, or a game that leaves you with a Legendary item after six hours of farming?

Honestly, it's not that don't love games with good stories but I'd rather have an MMO that'll keep me entertained even after the end of the main story. Isn't that the whole point of MMO's? Great replay value? If I wanted a good story I'd play a single player game or watch a movie.

It's a "Shared World Shooter". Yes I know. But that sounds awfully like an MMO to me and that isn't even a bad thing. MMO's are great fun.
