Spaceships in Destiny will have advanced propulsion capabilities faster than light or else it would take years to travel planet to planet.

Uhhhhmmmm that is very very wrong.

Spaceships will be equipped with warp drive technology ( a hypothetical faster-than-light propulsion system) allowing them to travel at apparent speeds greater than that of light by many orders of magnitude, while circumventing the relativistic problem of time dilation. Warp drive technology creates an artificial "bubble" of normal space-time that surrounds the spacecraft (as opposed to entering a separate realm or dimension like hyperspace, as is used in the Star Wars).

You sound like a cool guy to play this with when it comes out. I do agree with you about your warp drives but I believe that if they included wormholes it would be better as then it becomes slightly more realistic as traveling at the speed of light would mean that as it would only seem 10 seconds to us the in game time zone would have advanced well over 10 years
-
Thanks. However, Wormholes open up possibilities of intersteller and Intergalactic travel which is much more difficult than interplanetary travel. The distance between the planets in the Solar System is typically measured in AU, while between the stars is hundreds of thousands of AU. Intergalactic travel, or travel between different galaxies, would be even more difficult. Therefore warp drive (faster than light) would make more sense. The fastest speed at which anything is known to travel is the speed of light (through empty space), which is 300,000 km/s. At that speed it would take a little over 8 minutes to reach the Sun (so sunlight takes a little over 8 minutes to reach us). Nothing locally exceeds the speed of light, but space can expand and contract at any speed
-
But the probably of traveling at speed of light is that once your at the speed of light time passes a lot slower for you than why it is for everyone else. They could put some bull limitation to it saying that mankind discovered the ability to manipulate a wormhole but has always been limited to distance due to the lack of power or something

I think there both plausible. But warp drive, required for warping space, would allow you to travel as if you were moving faster than light by changing the structure of the universe, traveling backwards in time to the moment earlier than the starting point. The reality is that it's a game and it's fun to think about and enjoy the science fiction, truly going faster than the speed of light is a violation of the laws of physics and therefore can not really be discussed by physics. We both win.

I totally agree with you Was just enjoying a good debate about a game which will be amazing
-
Now if you achieved faster than light travel, would time stop at this point? Therefore you would arrive at your destination "in no time."
-
Well it would feel like that to the driver of this ship but everyone outside of your ship will have passed years in the time your in
