Stealth.

I wonder what capacity stealth and room for sneakiness will be in Destiny. Being a sneaky sniper/backstabber is always fun in open world games. Maybe real oufit camos to blend into environments, active camo, all that. Just nothing OP like Skyrim's sneaking. That's fun, but just too OP. Also, AI should make logical choices when you're sneaking. If you stealth kill one of a group, the rest find the body, they should not go back to a patrol status. They should continually search for you. Stuff like that. Don't limit stealth ability by artificial feeling limits on ability, rather balance it by smart AI.

  • Active camo for the win... just plz could it not just be limited to the hunter class (out side of multiplayer at the very least). I like sniping... but that doesn't mean I don't like all other types of combat... honestly... I'd like to play as Titan, but I want cloak, been forced to play as hunter to get a active camo, would be a little irratating, as I like been able to have the survivablity of a more robust character. Besides titans look much cooler. In short, ability over lap would be nice as it would allow people to look the way they want, and play the way they want at the same time....not to say the class, would not influnce the the amount to which you can play a particular play style, you can't have titan's that play like warlocks, for example... but to beable to select one or two abilities from other class sets, too allow you to better customise your caracter to your paricular play style, obivously there'll be clear advantage's to say playing as a mage if you want to use tech power magic (clear advantage's too each class basically, just not set in complet stone).

      • I 100% DISAGREE. Being 'invisible' is cowardly and completely defeats the idea of 'facing' an oppenent on-line and is currently the MAIN REASON I will not play Halo 4.

        • Stealth games are built around accomplishing your task despite having the additional task of not being noticed, this is in contrast to most action or FPS games which are usually built around smashing enemies and being a hero. If destiny's best selling point is it's action game-play then making the player detection better causes more fights, however if destiny is more of a do what you want kind of game then having the AI be easy to dupe, or the only one realizing that there is something wrong is an enemy like the fallen captain that corrals the other enemies into being vigilant. I personally think that stealth and destiny can be a part of the same whole, but I do not think that it will be the primary focus. I also feel that having dumber or limited intelligence AI would be better served for stealth play when the player wants to do just that and discovers that they are good at stealth until they run into the fallen captain example above.

        • Lethal and non lethal takedowns if you're hidden and they get to close, that would be cool, takedowns in first person

        • Regardless that I play a tank, it would be alot of fun to have a sniper sneak behind enemy lines and while running out I have cover from the front. Also, have them split their patrol, one looks for the killer the other continues the patrol and is harder to sneak by. Also I want to be able to move and hide bodies.

        • Camouflage could just be for certain armor pieces, but not complete invisibility. If I have a camo ability torso, then only the torso should be cloaked rather than the entire body. Of course, if you have more camo ability armor pieces, they should also cloak. There should also be a time limit and recharge time. The camo armor should also provide less protection than standard armor. I don't want stealth to have a heavy impact on my battles, just something to help give a preemptive strike or bypass overpowering foes.

        • Since this isn't a single player game, I would be careful hoping for stealth since it might hinder co-op more than help out the Group. And someone suggested complete invisibility? Go play a single player "stealth" game. As long as Hunters utilizing stealth doesn't ruin it for the co-op experience, I'm fine with that. AS LONG AS this does NOT carry over to multiplayer. Not being able to see your opponent in a fast paced TDM for example is the worst feature ever.

        • Maybe have it become partial invisibility and let slight features on your armor still show. Like if you have a light from your visor, it will still show. Any lights on your armor could still show as well. In an idea like this, it is possible your armor could effect your stealth in that the more of something (like lights) it has, the more visible your are. There could be other stealth factors though, like silent footsteps, silent reloads, or maybe have a small spell cast over your weapon for silent shots.

        • I really like this idea. But the devellopers should keep in mind that it can be OP. imagine that on player focuses just on stealth and another one foucuses on running an gunning. if the stealthy person attaks, he would not be able to know where he is

        • I feel like there should be [i]actual[/i] invisibility, instead of just active camouflage. After so many years, gamers can see right past active camouflage and are able to tell exactly where you are. I say, total invisibility.

        • The only things I've heard relating to stealth are from the Game Informer article on the game, which includes this: [quote]An enemy force called 'Cabal' rules an area called the Exclusion Zone on the planet; its Sand-Eater soldiers brandish heavy artillery and giant tanks. With this in mind, the Guardians snuck toward a locaiton known as the Dust Palace, picking battles wisely, before being discovered by enemies Staten identified as Legionnaires and a Centurion.[/quote] Take from it what you will, I guess. It seems there's at least a little stealth.

          • good point, but sometimes you just need that dumb AI. Imagine if you sneak kill an enemy, then the remaining 5 are on alert and place mines around themselves, and shields so they can't get killed or they hop on their speeders and run away ( and your mission was to kill 6). Yes, this scenario is a bit exaggerated but that's exactly what you guys want when I see posts like these. Sometimes dumb AI is beneficial in AC, Splinter Cell, Crysis, Skyrim. you name it that dumbness helped you pass a level. Games already have legendary and impossible setting, no need to add a realistic settinig. If you want smart opposition, try and sneak into the White House and assassinate President Obama.........

          • I do hope they implement Stealth into Destiny, it would make for an even more diverse playing style. Something Assassin's Creed-esk Stealth (Obviously with FAR more intelligent AI). But yeah blending in with the environment would be amazing and maybe incorporating destructible environment can definitely change the playing fields.

          • The thing I wish Halo did more, was add stealth. If you snipe someone from WAY off, don't let everyone automatically start shooting at you. Let them look around a little, then get a little more comfortable. If you snipe at all, from anywhere, your automatically shot at. Makes me sad :(
