Abortion in El Salvador: When upholding the integrity of a system prevents the integrity of man

A faint, fading heart beat, and a fetus with half a brain, are valued more than the life of a woman. It's so frustrating that people zealously uphold the integrity of their systems, and in doing so lose all sense and all integrity of their own.

I feel this is a good opportunity for me to point out that this problem of dealing with women's health is not only present in less developed regions. As some of you know a person I am very close to has been suffering for the past decade from Endometriosis, a condition in which tissue intended to line the vaginal walls is deposited elsewhere, often causing infertility. In spite of suffering from severe debilitation the problem was only recently diagnosed, and treatment has been disappointing to say the least. The reason for this inadequacy stems from the perception we as a society hold that women must deal with period pain, that it is part of being a women. As consequence such pain is not given serious consideration, research has not been sufficiently carried out, there is no cure, and a female epidemic (it effects 1 in 10 women to varying degrees) is suffered in silence. It is very much the same concept: our social constructs preventing positive action.

    • That's -blam!-ed up. The fetus is mostly likely not going to make it so why let both of them die?

        • I..honestly have no words for this, save for something has to be done. It is so upsetting, saddening, and disappointing that she is essentially being killed and no one is being allowed to save her.

        • Your logic makes no sense. The baby should be killed because of something its Father did? Really? No rational person can hold this view.

          • I was under the impression that even pro-lifers were ok with abortions in cases of -blam!- or when the mother's life is in danger. This is disappointing.
