A quicker way to follow/unfollow or mute/unmute a user is by clicking on their display name and follow them, but if you click the same (follow) button again, it would unfollow them. Same thing with the mute/unmute option.
Sometimes I'll have someone muted but expand the post and actually deem them appropriate to my own standards and bring them back into my bungie.net expierence, but I have to dig all the way back to my profile settings to unmute them.
Is this "by design"? By forcing us to carefully select our mutes and follows? Or perhaps it's just rather amusing to the webteam?

By design.

Probably by design. They don't want people abusing the system and constantly muting/unmuting or following/unfollowing.

I think it's by design. While we've been given the option to mute members, It's better to treat this feature as a 'last resort'.

My take on it was that they didn't want you to accidentally double click, then not actually be have someone muted/be following them. That's a wild guess though and I definitely think it would be better to be able to 'un-click' that button.

Maybe we should mute the webteam and not unmute them until we can do it without going to profile settings.

Wouldn't mind this.
