It's only sexist when men do it.
I was going to make a thread like this but I stumbled along this video. It sums what I was going to state even better than how I was going too. Just watch it (including feminists!).

It's things like sexism that are part of this vicious cycle of men complaining about women, and women complaining about men. It just goes on and on. I see it a lot on social networking sites.

Sexism is about both institutional power and prejudice, and since women do not have institutional power over men, it is not really possible for women to be sexist. They can be prejudiced, hateful, and bigoted, sure, but that alone is not enough for it to qualify as sexism. Anyway, those women and that joke were disgusting, but it's simply inaccurate to say that people don't get away with jokes about violence against women all the time. They clearly do. Furthermore, the reason that it's seen as funny to joke about sexual violence against men is because patriarchy frames men as tough and durable, and therefore violence against men is seen as trivial or even comedic. The answer to this is feminism. Finally, TAA is a sexist. But everybody already knew that.

I am frankly incredibly unimpressed by the Amazing Atheist, yet again. His arguments are fallacious, circular, and downright moronic. No one will be converted to his mindset by watching any of his videos, and he knows it - He's making a living by writing/saying opinion pieces to people he knows will agree with him.

Yep. Men can be sexist and so can women. Neither should be though. I don't consider men to be better than women and I expect everone to think the same. I don't think women are better than men and I expect everyone to think the same. OT: Sharron Osbourne is a -blam!-. Everything she's ever done has just proven that she's a -blam!-. It's a shame Ozzy didn't go all the way and murder her.

He makes a valid point and is right to criticize theses specific incidences. However, his argument falters when he tries to paint a broader picture with such anecdotal evidence, especially in the face of broader statistics that paint the opposite picture. He should have just made a "this does exist and it's wrong too" sort of argument.

I'm not a feminist, but I do disagree with him saying it's [i]always[/i] like that. He's funny, and he makes a valid point, but don't trash women for the actions of some of them. This of course, goes both ways. Women shouldn't judge men by the actions of individuals or groups. It's just a fine line I guess.. :/

As a side note, I can't believe some fat bearded -blam!- got so upset just because he didn't like/understand a joke Sharon Osbourne made. And saying that there aren't just as many, if not more, equally offensive jokes made about women (whether on TV or by stand ups) shows that, like most internet based ranters, he's just ignoring everything out there that contradicts his point in a desperate rush to get his sad, angry face out into the public domain.
