Meh.
The only new VW I'd own is the Jetta TDI just for the Diesel. Yet even then, A Cummins is much better.

Cummins are great diesel engines, but the TDI's from VW are nothing to laugh at. For a car sized diesel engine they do great. Give or take 42+mpg on the highway. Can't complain with that.

No lie, they get great MPG. I just hate working on cars that look like the car was built around the engine. Darn things are shoehorned in there so tight you need a special tool to do just about anything. My Dodge, on the other hand, could have a seat for a midget next to the turbo and he'd be pretty comfy, aside from the scorching heat of the engine block.

I know what you mean, whenever I'm in the service bays at work, I'll ask the techs about specs and such like that. One thing they always say is how cramped the engine compartment it. The turbo on our cars is placed behind the engine itself, which makes them a little harder to work on.
