I don't know if this has been posted before but in the article it is mentioned that Jason Jones black scout ship is made by Dead Orbit Foundries.
Here Staten meets Jason Jones, who plays as a Titan class, described as a "serious, straight up soldier". He's wearing a Vanguard plate. Staten is a Warlock class, a magic user of sorts. Jason greets Joe with an emote and both players head for the hangar. Here we see Jason's space ship, a black scout class built by the Dead Orbit Foundries.
This along with the New Monarchy hangar concept art leads me to believe that both Dead Orbit and New Monarchy are some kind of ship building corporations while Seven Seraphs and Osiris are orders dealing with the travelers power. Of course this is all speculation and can be completely wrong.

Edited by WurstsaIat: 4/9/2013 11:50:55 AMNice find. Why did no one find this until now? A Vanguard plate is mentioned too.

Edited by ToxicruM: 4/9/2013 4:58:50 PMI was just lurking around destinypedia and I came across this article. As for the Vanguard plate it has been mentioned in the latest OXM issue. I have linked a site below discussing this article. http://destinyhub.net/content/68-Official-Xbox-Magazine-Destiny-Cover-Story?s=8108ba0aa4f332afef2a41c7756a3119 This seems to reinforce the notion of Vanguard being a set of armor for Titan class as opposed to it being a separate class itself.

And FWC makes guns. It all makes sense.

Edited by Hylebos: 4/7/2013 4:30:38 AMI should mention that the Seven Seraphs Symbol appears along the side of "Pocket Infinity", seen in the upper right of the picture (thanks to A3LeggedBurrito for pointing that out). How interesting. It makes sense that different factions would be based around different industries, and not just be some random collections of people who believe the same ideologies... Confusing though is that I was under the impression that FOTC made Weapons... so now we have two hypothetical Gun Makers in the Last City...

Edited by freefall722: 4/9/2013 3:13:49 PMIsn't that the dead orbit logo on blue section of the lower gun? Maybe they are all just corporations and build a bunch of stuff? Although Dead Orbit an Seven Seraphs might not have made those guns either - they could have just made those attachments.
-
It's not quite the Dead Orbit Logo because it is missing the skull-like 7 in the center, which seems to be the defining part of the symbol. The outer rings of the Dead Orbit symbol however do appear to be Earth and the Traveler, so you aren't far off, it's just that without the main part of the brand, I can't say that the blue section is specifically a Dead Orbit part.
-
I always forget about the 7 because the "orbit" part of the logo links easier to the name in my mind. Either way I think it's interesting that the parts might be from different companies. I wonder if those ancient guns are upgradable as well - or if they are just so awesome they can't be.

Edited by Dovahkiin: 4/7/2013 4:32:51 PMI always thought that these factions were cults that were dedicated to protecting the traveller. Seems like I was wrong. But it makes sense that these factions are involved in trade and commerce.
-
Edited by ToxicruM: 4/7/2013 4:32:57 PMYou may not be wrong. I was also thinking that Osiris might be a faction dealing with the traveler and training people in its use of powers. A cult faction dedicated to understanding this mysterious orb. But as I have told External I have no source or link to strengthen or backup my speculation.
-
They're still probably there to help out humanity and their buisnesses (though probably not in that order), but yeah, making them all religiously based would be a tad odd.
-
I think religious zealots are a bit overused in Bungie games. I'm happy that they're diversifying the characters that we're going to meet in Destiny. But I do see your point, making them religiously based would be odd.
-
Just because the logo is on the gun doesn't mean they manufactured it. It could just be a feature of gun customisation to have your faction logo on your weapon.
-
Well that puts holes in my theory of Seven Seraphs being a faction dealing with the traveler and its powers :-(. But having two groups making weapons also makes sense as giving different types of weaponry through different suppliers gives a kind of sense of reality like not one single company having monopoly on all arms and ships.
-
If this is some kind of business district, seems odd to have the banners all the same color, not the logo colors. It's just concept art of course; but maybe there's more "horizontal integration" than what those article details imply, since this area could serve some other purpose? I'm curious, what details do you know about Seven Seraphs and Osiris lead you to that conclusion?
-
Like I said before i was just speculating about these factions. I was thinking about the traveler and its powers and thought there may be some institution that teaches how to harness and control the travelers powers and I theorized these two faction being dedicated to this task. Do not think of me as someone who has insider knowledge. I am in the same boat as you sailing in the dark :-) .

Edited by external: 4/7/2013 5:20:46 AMWasn't assuming that was the case; there's been a few articles to come out this past week. Just making sure I hadn't missed anything. Thanks for clarifying!

Glad to be of help.
-
Well. Shit. That's a pretty big detail for me to miss.
