Also, plenty of indies are made that are popular amongst many, not just "hipsters." Two examples include Amnesia and TWD. Another example is minecraft, which nearly rivals CoD in terms of popularity, perhaps even surpassing it. So no, indie games are not hipster shit.

Not really no, the only "indie" game that's popular outside of the hipster and core gamer circle is minecraft. Most people won't even know or will have heard of the two games you just mentioned.
