I suspect that since it only appears in the Warlock concept piece that it's his/her "familiar", allowing a greater use of the Traveler's power than that which is available to the other classes. An avatar of the Traveler itself if you like! (speculation).

Apologies, I meant in a human context only in the above post, as something similar can be seen this concept piece of The Fallen. Do they have access to similar abilities or is it just artistic device?
