The orb has been noticed. Nothing has been confirmed about what it is or how it's used.

I'm just speculating because of the empty space in the Warlock's gauntlet which may be filled by the "pet" floating over his shoulder. Since it looks like the Traveller, i'm assuming it could be what allows the class to harness the Traveller's power.
