France and the UK would consider arming the Syrian opposition even if it meant breaking an EU ban, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has said.
Speaking on France Info radio, he said the two countries shared "identical views" over lifting the arms embargo.
He said they would press for EU talks on the embargo to be brought forward due to the situation's urgency.
The UK has downplayed the remarks - but said earlier it might veto an upcoming EU vote to extend the embargo.
So what are your thoughts on this? It helped in Libya so it could work in Syria, I suppose if it would end the war we should give it a try. Sure Libyan gangs took control of parts of the country following the revolution but the government quickly took control back.
Russia is opposed to the idea of arming the rebels, obviously. So what do you think?

I mean, the Syrian rebels are already winning the fight against the government. Russia told the Syrian government "We aren't supporting you anymore, the writing is on the wall for you all. Have fun." There is also the fact that the Syrian rebels, or at least members of it, have some ties to extremist organizations. Who is to say that they won't make a run at becoming the government after the current regime finally falls
