These "lawless" zones I have thought about a lot. They probably will be present in the game, and will make it very fun.

That's the idea. Although I could definitely understand if they chose to funnel more resources into story-based modes rather than FFA no-man's-land areas, it'd definitely be a nice addition to what I think will be a pretty awesome game.
