Destiny exclusives: consoles, stores, etc...
I didn't think Destiny would have these exclusives, Reach had a few exclusive armors but they were for everyone who pre-ordered or from 1 store.
It seems that console exclusives are confirmed and most likely we will hear about retailer exclusives soon. I hate these with a passion. An example of this recently was Halo 4 and all it's exclusives across 8 or 9 different stores, you had to pay $600.00 to get all the content.
This content is being described as "playable content", which to me sounds like missions and new locations. I really, really, really hope that is not the case. The idea that missions, locations, etc would be divided among consoles and retailers is terrible and ultimately these exclusives mean every player gets a less complete game.
I don't think there should be any "playable exclusives" like mission locations or new areas being locked out to explore because you didn't buy a $500.00+ dollar piece of hardware that runs the same game or live thousands of miles away from a retailer in England that offers it.
What are your opinions on this?

You're literally not going to notice whatever it is that's exclusive on the PS4 not being on your 360 version, skenneth. You can say you don't want any exclusives AT ALL, but in reality you and everybody else are just upset that the 720 doesn't have any yet, which will likely get fixed come E3.

OP: Though these, various exclusives, are not a fan favorite this is done through a dark world of promotion. The promotion for PLAYSTAION 4. After the obvious win Xbox took with the Xbox 360. It's only reasonable if BUNGIE invites more loyal fans by helping promote their console providers. It is a huge boost when you just get started again after an absence from major console development. But don't worry I'm sure the new Xbox ****** will have it's exclusives. As fair as store exclusives go, Gamestop might have it's little extra as always. Just wait and see. There is always Ebay too.

I understand what you are saying, but the fact is that you aren't getting an incomplete product without this stuff. The base game is a complete product as is. If this is what it takes to bring more fans onboard then good for them. The better this game does, the better future releases are.

I've always had a hatred of exclusives or pre-order incentives, they split the consumer base. Having to make the choice of getting a piece of armor or some stupid weapon camouflage is idiotic. It's the same game, why does it even matter?

You offer no explanation as to why you think "exclusive playable content" will include levels and missions instead of just weapons and armor like in Halo. You're scaremongering.

You can't make a gimped PS4 version to make it equal to a great PS3/360 version because you still end up with a bad PS4 game. This is what comes with the next generation of games. New content and features that the older systems couldn't possibly hope to achieve. Thus is the big choice with each new console generation. How long do you stay on the older consoles that are officially old news? Anything majorly playable on the 360/PS3 version you won't be "locked out" of. The PS4 will have more content because it is capable of doing so. As for all Halo 4's "exclusive" content... You can't keep fighting a changing market that has already made up its mind. The bonuses are almost always non-factors like skins or customability related things that don't effect the game experience at all. If you still can't stand those minor things being exclusives the only thing you have to do is deal with it. Because it's how things work now.

What if the features are PS exclusive just because the XBox hardware can't do the same things. For example, what if they allow the remote assistance through people watching you? You and a few friends are at the end of a raid and another friend jumps online. They can't just join you mid session (it would break the immersion of the persistent world) but they can watch through the Gaikai functionality demonstrated. If they're watching maybe they can shell out a bit of in game currency to send you a care package of ammo or health. Gameplay exclusives aren't limited to levels. Don't get me wrong - exclusivity still sucks, but it might not be their choice.

Preorder bonues content is an incentive to buy from one retailer over another. There's no reason to be be buying every version from every retailer and spending so much money. Hence the term exclusive. At this point, no one knows what sort of exclusive content the PlayStation 4 will recieve and it may turn into something simple like early access. It's anyone's best guess at this point. Though oferring something unique is a fantastic way to push console sales up. Especially on new hardware. And Bungie was clearly the one developer standing above the rest at the show.

Agreed. Exclusives should be strictly aesthetic if you ask me. Especially when talking cross console.

Exclusives between a store is fine- if everybody can get it. You're paying the same regardless. Multiple -different- exclusives across retailers is a horrible thing to do, and across consoles? Pointless considering I can't think of any reason a publishers or developer would think this would help their business. Also fun thing I noticed. People keep whining 'oh stop complaining it isn't a big deal!' Well, the people that don't understand the implications, anyways. But the funny thing is... nobody is actually saying it is a good thing. Just people are saying it isn't as bad as some people think. That says something in itself, I think.

You are overreacting over nothing OP. I doubt you will miss out on anything big and I even doubt you'll see everything in the stock version of the game itself. Bungie would never have exclusives like secret areas that only certain people explored. The most it would ever be is an extra armor or maybe even one friggin mission.

4 RepliesFor example with Halo 4 - Everyone REALLY needed 7 or 8 skins. Because you can possibly use 7 or 8 skins simultaneously. Ooooor, you can't. Crazy. As long as it's cosmetic stuff, people who bitch about it are just being children.
