Spoilers. Find a fandom on Tumblr during a new game/episode/whatever release. People temporarily block tags in order to avoid spoilers. Same thing for politics or whatever is temporarily getting blown up with nonsense. Although, simple being able to toggle blocking a tag would suffice. It doesn't get "unblocked" until you change it.

Edited by RighteousTyrant: 2/8/2013 7:38:39 PMMaybe what he means is a way to filter it out that is as simple and non-permanent as our ability to view a specific tag. We don't want to "mute" tags for all time, we just want to (for example) view the Off Topic forum without #politics, or perhaps view the Gaming forum without #CallOfDuty. But we don't want those things made permanent, and with a simple click or two be able to return to the entirety of the Off Topic forum. Perhaps the red minus sign could appear next to tags, and with a click of that, all topics with that tag are filtered out of view, until we go to another forum, at which point all prior filters end and we have a fresh look at the next forum.

This. I meant something like a negative tag search. I'll edit it so that it is clear what I mean.
