On another note, it would make the most sense to gather food and get to a boat.
As for guns, AK47 (call me a fool for the classics) and other assault rifles as well as sub-machine guns and/or shotguns would make sense.

As am I, ammo for the AK is dirt cheap so it would be easy to stockpile.
