Looking at the one-line responses to this topic, I believe that larger avatars would make the pages even longer and more spaced out than they already are.
IMO, the current size is not only growing on me, I like that it is the same size as the very common "one line" reply.
Now a mouse-over that then resulted in a 90x90 avatar? I would like that.

Even so, there's enough room to slightly expand the avatar without making the post longer. Look at the reply you; there's a lot of gray space around that avatar...Expand it so the bottom is aligned with the bottom of "Reply...Start Related Topic..." and I think you're good!
