Another UPDATE for the Bungie.Next BETA

As part of our continuing mission to bombard the Bungie.next Beta with your better salvos of feedback, we’ve deployed another update. If you take a deep inhale, you can smell the fresh code. It smells like… victory. In keeping with our pledge to keep you slightly briefed on our grand conspiracy to reinvent your home in our domain, a list of the more apparent changes are found below. First, some highlights for this new version. Here are the fixes we think you’ll be most excited about… Throw your voice into a specific Forum Category. We’ve added some structure to the party, thus preserving the unique discussion parlors that you’ve come to know and love. Forum Categories are exclusive buckets of conversation – so you’ll only be able to pick one. They can be selected from a dropdown menu as you draft a Topic. Yes, there’s a reservoir for The Flood. You still have the ability to apply tags to each post, but you won’t be able to use the official tags that drive the Categories. Please Note: Older topics will still straddle multiple categories. New ones won't. We’re dark (again) bro. One or two of you may have mentioned that they missed the smoky aesthetic of the old and busted Bungie.net. We can’t imagine why, but we love you way too much to let such polite feedback float away on the breeze. To turn out your respective lights, visit the Display options on the Settings page under your profile. That should hold you over until the end of the beta. Please Note: You may find holes in the new dark theme. Keep Calm and Report to #Feedback. If you crave every last detail, here’s the rest of the changes (some large, some small): -you can now filter the Activity feed by the people you’re following -the Social feed on the front page displays the entire entry -the autocomplete no longer returns duplicate users -email addresses are now a hidden value on your profile page -when you sign out of your account on the profile page, it goes away -links on the careers page have been fixed -fixed the display for all time latest topics -the navigation bar for the mobile view scrolls when zoomed in -Ninjas can edit replies to official posts -a new menu for Display Options is available in Settings -the reply button now appears when you access a forum reply via permalink -issues with capitalized file extensions for embedded have been fixed -the FORUMS link at the top of the display leads to the Categories menu -forum titles are now active links that refresh the Topic index That’s all for now, and that’s enough. This was not the first to update to Bungie.next. It won’t be the last. We’re still tinkering with the controls on the bridge, and there are still items on your wish list that are being made real. Some fixes just take longer than others. Keep the chatter coming. Let us know how the new changes impact your experience.

  • My only real grip so far with the beta was the bright white change. In true Bungie fashion, you delivered a fix. Like usual your listening and taking action. I love you all... Thanks deej and everyone at Bungie.

    • God yes. Great changes! Next step is chronological posts. No more "comments section" style posting. Then I will be content.

      • That's 2/3 of my complaints obliterated. Now, some chronological options would complete the set, but I'm happy to wait a while. Bungie.dark bugs: The menu bar at the top stays at the top (as opposed to bungie.light, where it scrolled down the page so you could always see it) The loading icon (spinning circle) has a white box surrounding it, which doesn't really fit with the nice new background.

Great work guys! :) .......Hopefully you will get rid of the sort by option(completely) and make the threads have pages(option) and in chronological order(option).

I wont lie, I was awfully skeptical when Bnext first rolled out, but all of these updates are heading in the right direction, and I'm really looking forward to what comes in the future. I know, shame on me for doubting you guys. I should know better. How about some group love in the next update? You know you wanna! P.S. the dark layout is smexy <3

            • I cannot get over how sexy dark bungie.next is. The web team did a great job! Please don't listen to the people who want it even darker, it's great as is.

It's great to know Bungie still listens it's one of the reasons we all stick around. I love the new changes. One thing about the new forums a quick explanation of what the discussion in each is supposed yo be would be great. Some are self evident like "off topic" (why not just call it the flood again and make everyone happy?) but others like "bungie" I'm not so sure about. I had been using the #bungie tag as basically something else to tag site related threads so i would tag things I had also tagged with #community with #bungie. Is the Bungie forum the new Universe forum or is it something else? If it is the new Universe like with off topic why not just use the old name (universe) and avoid the confusion. Again this latest update is a big step in the right direction and I love it.

Sweet thanks DeeJ for updating us about the update! ;) Everything sounds good to me. Just remember don't let us change who you guys are or dictate what you do. I just want to say again though bravo on listening, I think you guys in my opinion are the best in the business at that. So thanks for that and remember We will love you no matter what always! Can't wait for your guys to be officially back! I'll let you know how everything is and give feedback. Edit 1# I like the new forum layout alot! Again I liked the first way too though. I think though in my opinion, this will work better for everyone. I like the white and had no problems with it... But darn I like the dark look, with the grays, blues, and whites, it goes together well. I also really liked the fact you guys gave us the option to change it and didn't just change it because so many people said to. It keeps the customizing feel very well and is nice for everyone. #FeedBack
