Finished the book a few nights ago and agree with a few of the others here. Great story, very well written, and answers a LOT of questions. Novels like this make the game even more fun because you feel like you're part of a much larger universe and you have a greater understanding of the motivations of all involved.

Human kinds weakness: hope

I have read the Book The prologue was FANTASTIC but sadly this is the most Action packed part of this story, so I was kind of depressed when I finshed the book because it was kind of boring and I believed it would have ALOT more action and Also go over retaking Harvest with Admiral Cole. So over all It was rather boring at some parts and doesn't seem faithful to the other books and the game.
-
good stuff. can't wait to actually read it.
-
Wow... It just seems like he really knows what he's doing with the book. I was a little hesitant on buying it at first, but after reading that gripping epilogue, I know now I need that book. I say awesome job!
-
as far as i have gotten . ITS AWESOME. Just wandering if elites are going to show up but other than that its good. Plus Johnson just so happens to be my favorite!! Peace...chance it

Finished the book last night. Staten is an amazing author. This book answered so many questions...definitely my favorite out of the entire series. And hopefully this isn't a spoiler, but this book has made me enjoy the screams of every Drone I kill.
Posted by: Bullheaded I just got the book yesterday and I've read into the fifth chapter and i noticed a jump in the time stamps at the beginning of the chapters from 4 to 5 it goes from Dec 21, 2524 to Dec 21, 2525 and i remembered from the other books that harvest was glassed by late 2525 and first contact with the covenant had already occurred before. So i looked it up in Fall of Reach on chapter 12 time stamp NOV 27, 2525 the Spartans with Dr Halsey on a UNSC frigate come under fire from a covenant ship and Halsey as well as the rest of the crew members seem to know fully well who and what the covenant is. Also in the next chapter john-117 and the other Spartans in his team receive their Mjolnir mark v armor w/ new energy deflecting shields for their new enemies/covenant so is this be a printing error and Contact Harvest is set in 2524 and early 2525? p.s.aside from that the book looks great! p.p.s. i think I'm the only one who noticed this in the forum
I also noticed this as well. Great book none the less and if you haven't read the first Trio of books you can pick those up at borders as well as Nylands Ghosts of Onyx which even further goes into the Human/Covenant war. Thank you bungie for making this -blam!- possible and thank you to the writers for making the halo story almost infinite.
-
Ive read all four books I just finished the ghosts of onyx and im getting that book soon.
-
one of my favorite of all the halo books, i finished it in one night!!!!! and i also want that picture used for this topic, the artist is a genius! can you say wallpaper 1024x786?
-
Amazing, can't wait until that same graphic style is applied to the fighting with the covies as well. Something tells me Johnson will leave a whole lot more than a blue blood smear when he's done with grunts.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the book (got it earlier today). While the other four books left me with more questions than answers, this one is turning out to answer a ton of lingering questions that the other four books and the three games have asked. I won't give away any of the details so as not to ruin it for anyone, but I STRONGLY suggest reading this book, even if you haven't read the others. I think it will really open your eyes to the story as told throughout the rest of the Halo universe. For those of you who have read the other books, I think you'll find that Staten's style of writing is very similar to Eric Nylund's (he wrote all the others with the exception of "The Flood" by William Dietz which covered the same story as the one covered in Halo 1). I was worried at first because I really enjoyed Nylund's work, while the one by Dietz didn't tell the story nearly as well (especially since most of the story was already known due to Halo 1).

wow this story looks awesome i'm in the middle of an AP assignment and i was stuck on reading this. i'm getting the book.

Sweet now let's see the movie come out. Oh yeah and a nice Map pack... and could it be free so we could play it in match making right away. How bout some Head to Head ranked also. I know lonewolves is sweet, but head to head is also cool. Could we see some clues or hints to the new maps soon? Thanks for the Zombie fun.. although I stayed up beyond late and couldn't enter Matchmaking splitscreen. I felt Tricked, and not Treated!! Oh well I had fun. Now to forget about consuming brains......aaahhh BRAINS yummy!! Rock on Clowns in Flames!! [Edited on 11.01.2007 1:06 PM PDT]

I got the book on Halloween night (thanks to my wife). I started reading it and I'm liking it.
-
Great work. After reading the first paragraph, I thought the entire book would be filled with SAT words, but it eased up. Can't wait to get a hand on my copy.
-
*Off-Topic* I want a copy of the screen shot that was used for the article. It's bad ass. *Off-Topic*

too much to read.....

Great job on the prologue. I actually felt as if I was there seeing what Johnson was seeing. I can't wait to read the whole novel. Now that I have finished Halo 3 this book is something I am looking forward to.

I got the book yesterday. There was only three left at my local Wal-mart and I was lucky I guess to have got it in time.
