Bungie.next Beta: Day TWO

Bungie Community, Welcome to the second day of our beta. It's been 24 hours, and we've detected several shifts in the weather. Feedback has been collected. Enhancements have been discussed. Work has begun on a few changes that have us even more excited about this brave new world. Keep talking to us. Migrating to this new platform for interaction is a challenge. The more you can tell us what would make things better, the better we will make things.

    • The order of the forum posts in each tag gets annoying. I like to use the settings latest x today. The order of them is all sorts of jumbled. Some topics will be minutes old, and others hours, and all of them in no particular order. I can understand if there needs to be some separation between a more important post, but other than a select few shouldn't the rest fall in line to time created?

    • Honestly, I've grown to love the fact that I can just click on the topics button on the top right and see every new conversation people are having.

    • Just noticed something else and wanted to comment, which I added to my thread linked above.
• Activity feed items can't be "middle mouse button" clicked to open in a new tab.
• Honestly, I like it a lot. We just need to reverse the order of the threads, and bring back pages. And make a handful of separate public forums. One for gaming, one for off topic, and community/bungie discussion.

    • I gave you some feedback already in a Conversation (private message). As for the color goes, I had to use a CSS that a forum user created, not sure why you guys never allowed us the option of a black/white background to begin with.

    • There should be more than one forum it seems a bit chaotic in this one, single forum. Having more than one forum would help you guys at Bungie out when you get to having threads about upcoming games so you can have better feedback organization and what not. Also, this feels a bit too much like Twitter right now. And with the following, I think there should be a forum that is personalized just for where the people that you follow post. I don't like how the hash tags pretty much determine what you see and what you don't see. Like I said i think it would be more convenient and easier to use if you have separate forums. Also, I would love for title bars to be back. And maybe some custom user profile pictures without coup having to be installed. And the "view at your own risk" that comes up when somebody has a picture or something like that seems a bit silly. Why trust the community to link pictures and GIFs if you warn everyone about them being there? We want them there. Also, a language filter would be great. That's all I got for now but I don't know who agrees/disagrees with me and what the ratios of people who like this and hate this are but that must suck to have to go through all these stats... Good luck Bungie!! And keep it up community :)

Really hoping to see the posts appear in chronological fashion.(ie. first reply, second reply, so on) The sometimes randomness of there place or otherwise backwards order throws me off too much and having to scroll all the way down to read the first replies sucks.

      • Threads go backwards chronologically. Replies to individual comments go into a drop box and create their own mini-threads that must be opened. Threads are jumbled, unreadable garbage now. Plz fix.

        • I think the first thing to "fix" would be the color scheme, that's most likely the easiest I'd assume. After that, maybe address the need for a bit more order to the forums, the tabs like we use to have. P.S. Nice Aldous Huxley reference

        • Separate forums and a darker color scheme. You hit a home run with the original design, there wasn't any real need to scrap it entirely. Also, why is every single posted picture and video hidden by default?

          • Good: - I like the last replies coming up at the top. - I like how we're finally being trusted with images and videos. - I like how there's now some opportunity to click like on something. Bad: - I don't like how I can't see all the replies without clicking a fair few times. This could be sorted by an option to let users click "see all replies" at the top of the page, or have "always see all replies" in their personal settings. I liked how I could scroll through and see lots of users posting in bungie.net - I don't like the small avatars, I think they could do with being at least 4x the size that they are now (4x the current unit area) - I don't like not having separate forums, I believe this would have come up a lot. Bungie.net wasn't cliquey in a bad way, and although the forums weren't mutually exclusive, there was a definite difference in type of member mainly in The Septagon or The Flood. Possible small improvements: - Perhaps make it so that when you click on one of your groups it goes straight to the forum (or make that an option, I'm not really sure how far you want to go with this "your own site experience") - The ability to integrate an irc chat into a private group (from an external server). Obviously this would be up to admins to decide if they want to link it in, but I might just make a thread about this now. - The option to set it to "latest" instead of "popular" by default, because people will miss a lot of traffic So in conclusion, I want to be able to customise my experience to be similar to my old experience, without bashing on this potentially new experience for everybody else.

          • In my opinion, the forums need to be separated back into their previous style. However, I'm sure you've heard enough of that. At the moment, my main priority is a post format more similar to the previous version. The avatars should be bigger (The current avatars could easily take the large space to their left/bottom left with minor adjusting), and the colors should be darker (Black, preferably).

            • Thanks for the update, DeeJ. I would like to add that I would like to see the return of sub-forums instead of just one giant forum. As a side note, I would also like to see the alias system show your original username instead of a list of changed screen names and direct ID's.

            • What I like about this is that I can tell, at a glance, what is most important in this conversation. Within 10 seconds, I can tell that people want the preview button back, the tag system needs work, and the color scheme is an issue. Each reply to my post is valid, and I read all of them. But, when you reply to each other, you indicate to me what I need to prioritize.

A few small things that could help the site: Liking posts within a thread Having the followed tags available when in groups A "my groups" tab in the profile drop-down The ability to link with twitter The return of the "yum" profile theme

              • In the recent posts section thing, we can't right click and open links in a new tab, which makes checking back through old posts tedious. It would be nice if this was changed. Also, the return of the preview button would be lovely.

              • Now that I've had plenty of time to play around with the new layout, I really like it. The only thing I'm unsure about is the white background; I still might need to get used to it though. I really like the hashtags and notifications, but I would really like the ability to "mute" a tag I don't want to see when browsing the forum in general. I think that's all I have for now. Oh and #feedback, I had to do it.

                • Something that's already bugging me: when I receive a notification that someone replied to me, there isn't enough information for me to determine what conversation I'm heading in to. Image attached: this notification should include the thread title and either my post (2 replies to your post "The lack of a preview button is . . .") or my post + what's already shown.
