60 frames per second takes a lot of processing power for one thing. Arcade games can go 60 frames due to how the games aren't straining the system at all, so the left over processing power is used increase from rate. Gears of War runs at 30 frames per second, but that game requires tons of processing, graphically and etc. Marathon 2 released ten years ago, so the game was make with ten year ago standards. The 360 is a powerful machine, so they upped the frame rate to 60. Halo 3 will take a lot of processing power, so Bungie decided that better game play is more important then the number of frames per second. [Edited on 07.17.2007 8:22 PM PDT]
