Bungie Weekly Update: 10/26/07
A couple of interesting developments in the Halo 3 world, including DLC, Banhammer and yes, Recon helmets.

Well i downloaded the Landfall video Thought it was awesome I hope they make the recon armor buyable doubtfull I CANNOT wait to see the new banhammer excuses! I wish if you both had low health and you melee that BOTH people would die (I once got assassinated by someone I assassinated at the same time, it was awesome) And new maps = AWESOME and can never come too soon! and those are my thoughts lmao

hey frankie has bungie ever thought about selling the recon armour i bet you can get some profit off of it o and another thing ppl are saying the security shoulders are bugged and im pretty sure theyr not cuz i have them can you guys tell ppl the right way to get them so they stop making a big deal out of it. ps. bungie owns all.

Only to find it bungie only. I think I at least deserve the shoulders I have begged and pleaded and even made a fun with guns on my file share that took an hour to make a very poor one., Please bungie I am begging you ! I want that armor just like I want a puppy. PLEASE.

They didn’t actually say that by making a funny video or doing something stupid that you would get the recon gear. Those were just random “gifts”. I have a great picture witch deserves Recon armor .. Only problem is i don't know how to show you the picture or video ..there on my fileshare . My gamertag is SmackThatMonkey Please look at it. I want Recon armor soo much =) Or could someone tell me how to show people them :)? On the video: me and 2 of my friends were messing arround on forge and one of my friends drops a warthog on someone and he goes flying and all his legs,arms,head were stretched ...hard to explain.But its very funny.

Hello Halo 3 Creators, First of all, Halo 3 will go down in history as one of the GREATEST video games of all time; and I want to thank everyone for their contribution. I’ve been reading about the recon armor (which looks phenomenal!) and I had a thought. Have you ever considered auctioning off 1 or even several sets of recon armor for a charitable cause? I have no specific charity or organization in mind; however I know that it might be a clever and interesting way to high-light corporate philanthropic contributions and create some positive PR buzz as well. I’m not going to lie to you guys; I would be the first person to bid for it. You could also interpret this email me saying “Hey, this could be a good idea for you guys… and if you happen to feel so inclined… I wouldn’t be terribly upset if you decided to give me the recon armor as well.” Anyway, thanks again for all the people who worked on this amazing game. I really wish that I could play this halloween playlist.... my xbox 360 power supply busted almost a month ago... so the only chance I got to play Halo 3 between now and then was when my little brother came home from college and brought his power supply. After 2 mis-shipments from Microsoft on my warranty covered power supply (when I say mis-shipments... I mean that they admittedly forgot to send it twice) I finally got my power supply back. Which, to my dismay, was missing the cord that plugs from the box to the wall (UGH). So, 3 days later (which was last Friday... when this update was written) I got really excited that I would be able to play Halo 3 on halloween. So, I plug my brand new power supply and cord into the xbox and begin to play halo 3 again... to warm up for the next few days. And... 5 minutes in... The Red Ring of Death. So here I stand, 1.25 hours from Halloween, Xboxless and Haloless for the past month, with at least another month remaining on my jail sentence. Everyone else enjoy Halo 3 for me please... see you whenever Microsoft decides to send my 360 back!

What's funny about this update is that it talks about the melee problem like it's just something that occurs online. Network problems? With all due respect to Bungie, comments like that make me wonder if they've ever played the game locally or via system link, because I can tell you from experience that the melee system is just as frustrating then too and that the network, your connection to the Internet, nor who is host has anything to do with it. I give them credit for at least admitting they'll look into it. That's at least a start. But I won't be completely satisifed until the system is slightly adjusted to make it more true to how it should work. As of right now, Bungie's claim of "almost simultaneous" is laughable; we all know very well that it is nowhere near "almost simultaneous" (and maybe that's the problem right there). I'm excited to see where they go on the matter. Also, I'm anxious to see what this Halloween surprise is. [Edited on 10.30.2007 9:28 AM PDT]
