Forerunner and a Prophet

Warning: This thread contains Prophecy and possibly spoilers (I haven't played the game). If you are prone to flaming, you have been warned! Welcome to my mother of all thread (thus far). For those of you who are familiar with my previous posts on the topic, this is new stuff. I have handpicked several passages from The Word. They're quite frightening at how they are appearently coincidental... Or I'm just crazy (I like both answers). If anyone would like a list of the passage titles, simply PM me for them and I'll be more than happy to send 'em your way. (If you are not a skeptic of my findings, skip this paragraph) I understand that some (if not, most or all of you) do not believe as I believe. But for all of you skeptics out there, please try to answer these questions: Where else do you hear about the Flood wiping out entire populations? Where else do you hear about the Prophets of the Covenant? Where else do you hear about the Reclaimer bringing salvation to mankind? With that said, let the intrigue begin! (any thoughts I add will be italicised)

 • IceWeasel: Very nice find, the comparisons are too close to ignore. I'm not a religious person myself, but I now see how much similarity there is between the bible and Halo. Good job, you seem to have put a lot of work into this. Champlain: I like the new you a lot more, I'm glad you decided to change up your bungie.net persona a little bit...

 •
Posted by: IceWeasel UPDATE: In the first 8 or 9 pages of The Fall of Reach, Nylund is describing the destruction of Jericho 7 by the hand of The Covenant. I'm not sure which part of the name Jericho 7 is more important. Either the number or the place name. In the book of Joshua (6:1-27), the Israelites (also called the people of the holy covenant in the book of Daniel) marched around the city of Jericho for seven days. And on the seventh day the Israelites blew their trumpets and the entire city collapsed, leaving only a small handfull of survivors. The Fall of Reach, page 8
Their lateral lines brightened with plasma-then discharged and rained fire on Jericho VII... ...Where there had once been a paradise, only hell remained.
Joshua 6
On the seventh day the Israelites got up and marched around the city as they had done before. But this time they went around the city seven times... ...When the people heard the sound of the horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the city from every side and captured it. They completely destroyed everything in it- men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep, donkeys - everything... ...Then the Israelites burned the city (Jericho) and everything in it. Only the things made from bronze, silver, gold or iron were kept for the LORD's house.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but I think that Jericho was rebuilt 6 times before the Isrealites got to it. So the Jericho they destroyed was Jericho 7.

 •
Posted by: slipknotm7 Yes, but what do the monks have 2 do with any thing
I think it's quite easy to point out that monks are devout people. The most common are Catholic and Buddhist monks. The superficial connection here with monks singing through-out the entire game was pointed out as a small side note so that those who have ears can hear.

 •
Posted by: Meteorain27 Very nice, Ice. For doubters, think of this. WHY IS THE FREAKIN GAME CALLED HALO (think on Angel's head) IF IT DOESN'T HAVE SYMBOLISM.
Indeed. Everyone try to think back to the very first moment of playing halo... peeling back the wrapping on the case. sliding the fresh, unscratched disc into the black console. Bungie screen catches you off gaurd as the use metaphoricle bacteria populating the earth and then- there... -right there- you hear monks singing.

 •
Posted by: WhitestarAnubis IceWeasel, You went and convinved me to pull out my bible and search through it a bit, mainly to find that reference I told you about. However, did find these versus just shy of those mentioned for Master Chief bringing the fight to the Covenant.
One of them asked the man dressed in linen, who was now standing above the river, "How long will it be until these shocking events happen?" The man dressed in linens, who was standing above the river, raised both hands toward heaven and took this solemn oath by the one who lives forever: "It will go on for a time, times, and half a time. When the shattering of the holy people has finally come to an end, all these things will have happened."
Even though I am not the type of person to try and draw of complete parallel between the Bible and Halo, this line does have a scary connection to the rumors of a Civil War amongst the races of the Covenant, mainly "the shattering of the holy people". Perhaps we will find out that the Prophet's quote in the trailers of "There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?" is not talking about the assault on Earth, but a Civil War in the Covenant that will last for 3 and a half years?
Ahh... the book of Ezekiel. It's a fun one. The statement itself is talking about the assault on Earth, but when he says "There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?", the word "those" (believe) is refering to some of the covenant who stray from the words of the prophet before the assault on Earth (obviously, they wouldn't say it during the assault). And obviously, for the sake of heresy and treason, such doubters would surely die as soon as the prophet gives the orders. So the civil war may be going on for some time now, but it is difficult to say when it started. Heck, it could have been going on since the beginning of the conglomorate. I wouldn't even say it is a war, even if several thousand (million?) covenant forces stray. The Covenant forces must be immensly huge (thus all are expendable), because if you read the last chapters of first strike, any ship that even hesitated at giving access codes to come near High Charity, they would be obliterated. So, less like a war, more like a hundred mutinies silently taken care of.

At least, it's afternoon where I am, not sure what it is out your way. Just got a question about this one. Would you mind telling me where you got that quote? Because I really cannot shake the feeling that those versus are not about The Savior, but rather are about The Beast. Thanks for your time. WhitestarAnubis
Actually, you're close. It's talking about an evil king from the north which pretty much gives meret to the idea that the humans are on the wrong side. any way, it's from the book of Daniel:11:22,28b,30,31 All verses are from the New Living Translation.
