Sorry, this weapon kinda blows. It is like the stupid sentinal in james bond nightfire. Halo was cool because it had futuristic yet realistic weapons. This weapon just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the Halo arsenal. We've already got the rocket launcher for an anti vehicle weapon, why do we need another? If you wanted to add the fuel rod gun into multiplayer that'd be understandable because it's just the covenant equivalent to the rocket launcher.
Plus, how are you going to realistically animate the spartans/elites getting hit by the thing? They can't be sent flipping through the air like with an explosion because its just supposed to cut through things. A laser is just heat anyway, it wouldn't send anything flying. The only realistic way you could animate it would be to have people being cut to pieces by it or bursting into flames. Halo isn't overly gorry like that and I don't want to see it end up like that. The only thing it seems like you could do is to just have people drop dead when they get hit by it. That seems kinda lame and it would get people pissed off when they get killed by it. I can imagine myself yelling "What the f*** just killed me?!". At least when you get killed by a sniper you either flip over or spin in a circle and you can see the trail (except during extreme lag).
Anyway, I don't like the weapon. I'm not sure if other people agree but I would rather not see it in the final game. Maybe just turn it "off" for default settings in matchmaking & custom games and avoid putting it in the campaign.[/quote]
dude.....i think bungie might actually go for a grungy look for this game....i think that would be nice....after all, this is the final chapter, and it should be more serious and solemn....i think a little dismemberment would do the game a little good actually....
