YES! Actual info on Halo 3 !(even if it contains no spoilers)! The new assault rifle sounds killer, but I have a concern...
By the sound of things, Bungie is doing what they did in halo 2: Add new weapons, change old ones slightly, and basically double the number of guns you can use. While this may sound awesome, it means that there are many guns that do almost the same purpose (ie. SMG - assault rifle, Covie sniper - sniper rifle). Unfortunately this makes it harder to find ammo, adds to the learning curve (slightly), and makes gameplay less smooth (I found).
Also, did anyone notice that there have been no shots including the AR's display ? Most likely the art for it is virtually done (they showed it at the E3), which would mean that the display might have some greater purpose... or just be a fancy surprise.
Agreed; I don't see why they couldn't have just made the MA5C's improvements to the SMG and save adding a redundant weapon to the game. Given Bungie's past performance in designing automatic lead-based weapons, I have a hard time believing the MA5C will be anymore than a depth-less bullet hose with sub-par accuracy. This is a lot of fanfare over what basically amounts to making H3's machinegun not as sucky as that of H1 and 2.
