• I can't beleive that people are attacking bungie staff over their recon armor. Jerks. Besides I think that they should have there own armor, just so no one can say I killed lukems or something without a save video of the recon armor.

 •
Posted by: Murv Sorry to do this to ya Frankie, but it's seriously time to take ya down a few pegs.
Murv, you do realize you just called out Frankie in one of Luke's posts, right? Doesn't make sense. Also, who are you to decide who is truly a Halo fan? Also, Steaktacular is when you get a bulltrue i belive. That is when you kill someone who is in the act of a sword lunge. [Edited on 10.19.2007 11:37 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Maverick2786 When I'm online I have heard numerous persons complaining about the Halo 3 maps... Many Halo fans want to see some of the favorite Halo 2 maps brought back into play for Halo 3(Ascension, Turf, Terminal, Sanctuary, and Collosus are mainly the maps that I hear). What are the chances that some of these maps are going to be brought back into play???
Actually I'd like to see that one with the conveyor belts and the red and blue side (Elongation?), and something similar to Ivory tower. Others from the original or 2: Wizard or Warlock Midship Rat race Prisioner, prisioner, prisioner!

 •
Posted by: Mr Tyrant "What is steaktacular?" Alright from what I heard, it was added on there when they(Bungie staff) played someone(I believe his name was luke) that said that he will win by 20 or more points. semi-long story short. they(bungie staff) got to 31 kills and the guy(I believe luke) owed them a steak dinner as per the bet he made. so now u get a that medal every time you win (i believe) a slayer game by 20 or more kills. Bungie has a strange sense of humor... :p
Than Luke owes me 3! (to Luke): Hey buddy...pay up :)

 • Can someone tell me how to submit questions for the Weekly What's Update (WWU)? Is there an email address to send them to, or a forum to post to? If the latter, is there a new thread created every week? I can't find it.

 •
Posted by: Raiden627 Short reply: good stuff. Long Reply: There are several methods of cheating going on, most of them I am sure you are working a fix for. I would like to point out what some of them are. 1. DoS attacks, been a victim of this twice, I have my videos of those specific games saved, cheaters reported. 2. Standby, yes if you press the button for too long it boots you, however when tapped sporadically, it allows you to 'glitch' out of being kilt. (I have no concrete proof of this, but the connection indicator and my in game experience against opponents I believed engaged in this practice, lead me to believe it is a method.) 3. Handicapping in team games, it's called team for a reason, if you want solo action go to lone wolves, I've had about 5-7 games in team, where either as soon as the match starts or right before it starts, all but one member of the team quits simultaneously, the result, our team puts up a good fight, but the game "handicaps" as I like to call it, giving the lone person the advantage, I believe the only way to fix this, and it's viable is to automatically end the game when the team drops below two players on either side, no skill or exp is earned, it's considered a tie game or one that never took place, effectively neutering this method of cheating. 4. so called "achievement matches" I urge everyone to report these boosters who participate in this, because boosting is cheating's ugly cousin. Now on to other things. The news of DLC is sweet, there are a few things I bet we would all like to see added, mine are Flamethrower in Forge, and Fuel Rod Cannon. I would also like to see the brute added in as a character model to chose from, not to mention new armor types, in fact that would be an awesome contest to have, design an armor contest. I know it's a lot of work, and I don't expect things to just be thrown in the game, because people demand it, but as one of the loyal forum jockeys, and as someone who's contributed financially to your campaign of world domination, it would be a nice gesture to add some or all of these things eventually. As far as Recon Armor and flaming skull goes, who cares, I do admit as a fan of Ghost Rider, I am a bit jealous of the flaming skull, but hey bungie made the game so of course they are going to have some unique way(s) of identifying themselves, my advice is to just get over it. Edit* To the guy above me, Team matches work different than Lone Wolves in the way that, even if you don't finish first in Lone Wolves, you can still earn skill and exp. Team Games there isn't any complicated math, it's either you win or lose and whether the lowest skilled player was on your team or not, losing by one point or ten, you still lost, and throw in the lowest skilled on the winning team and that's what the game counts, and uses to determine skill, exp. Most likely if you lost 2 skill levels, it was because of that. Be glad that all lists are individual.
Amen to the cheating thing! I'll probably never get to the high ranks, but that don't make me any less a hardcore Halo 3 fan. In many ways this game is superior to the way Halo 2 ran. But there is nothing more frustrating than those people who sole purpose to wreck a team slayer game to acheive a rank or to boost their ego by tapping the standyby button to achieve an ambush position they never had the skill to acheive on thier own! As a side note, I'd love to see them on a competitve airsoft/paintball field, where there are no "standby" tricks they can do, and the shots leave bruises! And to add to your list of cheats...I have an unconfirmed report of an online sales website selling "standby switches" that can be attached inbetween the modem and the computer unit. Another method that team slayer cheaters use is that one person will "standby" while others benefit. Usually, the other players at the end of the game then cry, "we weren't cheating" while the one stays silent. Some will blatantly tell you off and laugh in your face, and admit it! The way to resolve the last issue, would be that the TEAM be held accountable for the actions of the individual...unless the team members of the accused also report the abuse. Since I know bungie tracks the accusations, this would prevent friends from "leapfrogging" game to game (having a different guy standby each game). I have actually reported people on my team when pointed out (I had just met them online in the game), and I refuse to play with anyone that performs such tactics. Just like in any sport, it is just as much the responsibility of the pplayers to police themselves as it is the refs and the monitors to police them all.

 • Being new to this forum...I agree with those of you saying its OK to have their own armor. Let Bungie members have their fun! And I'd like to know who works for bungie personally...especially after I got into a game two weeks ago and a guy with that setup was tapping the standby button! That was ****** annoying! • /me yawns its true that gametypes as a whole have been terrible, however not everyone is on the same page. When you removed one gametype and install another, its grounds for different or maybe even the same people to dislike. Not everyone can be please however the greater majority should be pleased. Shotty snipers isnt just a luck of draw. it may seem like its so, however if you can read peoples game play and playing styles and of course, spawns. you'll be able to decipher where they may be. If you consider this to be luck then you will have to consider the whole game about luck. Someone sweating until they lose grip on their controller is just anyone part of the game. Getting to the point. While you bring up clearn and concise points and they do have valid points behind them. fact is it isnt the same game it was in 2001, 2004, last week, couple hours ago. Everyday you meet someone new and you do something different so its never really the same. You learn to adapt, even if its adapting to something you cant stand. Fact is, its there to stay until it chances but since you got no control of that. Just try to enjoy it.

 • Dude Tyrant I wasn't pointing you out either it just seemed that every one started complaining about whinners right after I posted that. But your right though making new weapons would'nt be that hard and there could be some fun new vehicle choices they could add also. thanks for the comments though you should look for me after Christmas when I get my limited edition copy from my grandma. • (((A game is what you make of it, so stop crying if he leans to the more "casual" side of gaming.))) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you for showing us what an "immature response" is(although I appreciate your response nonetheless). No one is crying here, just making a concise point - a point that you failed to combat which in most forums of debate would mean that you concede. The idea that Frankie is a casual gamer was made in my statement when I said that games like "call of Duty" are better suited for him - not halo. I guess what I am trying to say is that halo is not really for the type of casual gamer that Frankie appears to be. I myself am a casual gamer, yet I still feel the way I do about halo, and it seems evident that most people feel that way as well, seeing how overwhelmingly and almost unanimously everyone seems to hate the "Shotties and Snipers" game-type. In short, it is not crying to make an opinionated point on a silly internet message board. It could however be argued that is is crying when someone uses a blanket statement such as "a game is what you make of it" to counter the specific linear points that I have made. A noble "in your face" effort on your part, but no cigar. Thanks for playing though!! : ) [Edited on 10.18.2007 2:38 PM PDT]

 • [
Posted by: Murv Sorry to do this to ya Frankie, but it's seriously time to take ya down a few pegs. I have been reading this column for years now, and I must say, it is evident from your writings that you do not understand the key elements from which halo fans draw their enjoyment of the game. I will use your most recent post as example, as I have heard you use this kind of idea from you before: Swords and snipers?!? I am sure that you are aware that shotties and snipers is the most hated gametype of all time next to VIP and elliminato - swords and snipers is practically the same thing. The reason people hate this is because of the lack of variety involved - (not that people necessarily like too much variety either - randomized weapons is pretty awful as well). However that lack of variety takes away from the level of strategy and amount of skill that can be applied in a round. Ya see, if there are only two options (sword and sniper or shotgun and sniper) than there is only so much you can do especially when your enemy has the same two weapons. In a close range shotgun round, players are less likely to employ skill as it usually comes down to either who saw who first, or who camps best. No one likes a camper, and the who saw who first is a game of chance and luck - if I wanted that I'd just head to Vegas. The same is almost true with the sniper rifle - if both my enemy and me have sniper rifles, then we are both encouraged to camp, or if we're in a long range battle, it's a matter of who is not sweating so bad their controller does not slip out of their hand. Either way, its boring and no fun -AND THATS THE BOTTOM LINE, it's simply boring. I say all this to say that gamers who actually enjoy these "luck-of-the-draw" game-types are not truly halo fans, as the attraction to Halo seems to be the acclamation and application of personal skill and strategy, which grows exponentially over the years you play. These "luck-of-the-draw" people are more suited to play more linear less interactive games such as the "Call of Duty" series. And thats exactly what Frankie seems to be. Definately the wrong guy to be working at and advising for Bungie. Halo is a skill game, not a game of luck. Its the "Texas Holdem" of video games. If that changes, I and I imagine many other people will cease to care about it.
A game is what you make of it, so stop crying if he leans to the more "casual" side of gaming. • You know, there's a really simple way to deal with this- Put a bounty people sporting the flaming or recon helmets. make a game out of it- even if they're on your side, whack em. Post the spectacular kills on a website. Knowing the average Halo Player it would catch on like wildfire.

 • I guess if you're successful enough, you can suffer to have a few bad policies like this. Putting something in front of the consumer and saying 'you can't have this' is just bad business; I don't care if you're Bill Gates or Donald Trump. I really enjoy the games and will absolutely continue to play- but this is just a down tick to me on the character of the people behind the product. My guess, once these guys have had their fun they'll find a way to squeeze money out of it by getting folks to buy a 'armor download'. Don't be naive folks, Bungie is 'in it to win it,' and your dollars are all they care about- just like any other business. This is how it works in the real world.

 • I think its unfair that i can win 9 games in a row and only get 1 level up. Im playing higher ranks than myself in team slayer and 7 of those nine games are steaktaculars. I then lose 1 game after that winning streak and go down 2 levels. hows is that possible? i dont seem to have this problem in lonewolf so why does it happen in slayer? It is very disappointing to do so well and get nothing for it! I also failed to mention that the 1 game I lost was only by 2 points! This is not an exaggeration I checked my stats before I sent this message. Im not whinning Im upset to be punished for doing so well. Yet I have friends who dont seem to have this problem. So why does this happen to me? I dont want an explaination on the ranking system I want something done about it. Im proof that something is very wrong! At this point I get more of a challenge out of social than ranked because I cant get to the rank I should be! Sincerly, Three year patron from H2 to H3

 • everyone loves new maps. i want to know why u never see, infection or juggarnaut games in ranked. or why you never get shotty snipes anymore in team or at all in lone wolves. why is the VIP so weak too? seems like the shields are weaker than the guys guarding him. and why cant i get the icon on my gamercard when i am a member of this site? also why does it say that i have gotten 7 kills with the flag but i have no medals for it in ranked? • I get that there is a system for ranking up that is complex to say the least. Why did you make the losing of a rank as simple as you lose one game you go 1 to 2 levels. I have two types of games: 1. is where I beat the tar out of them, 2. is where I lose by a point or two. No matter how many I've won I always lose 1 to 2 ranks if I lose so much as 1 game but don't go up at all after winning by 30 points three to four games in a row. Cut the complex system stuff if you go down after every loss and almost never go up it isn't very complex. Fix it. This is really ruinning my gaming experience and taking a whole hell of a lot of fun out of halo multiplayer. Lets not forget that people who are totally out classed and shouldn't lose a rank for being beaten by 30 points by someone who should be a higher rank. It's not fair to them or to anyone else. Don't explane it just fix it!

 • Call me crazy (or un-self-centered) but I think it's cool that Bungie employees get their own exclusive armor. I mean, let's be honest, we would have done the same thing and then some. Now no one on Live can lie about working for Bungie and it makes playing with the actual employees all the more fun. I was hoping Bungie would do something like this. If everyone had this armor, there would be nothing special about it and it would lose some of its awesomeness. Remember this: if everyone is special, then no one is.
